Default Your Favorite Videogames of All Time

All Apologies if this thread has already been done. I don't think it has, as I searched the Media subforum for "favorite video games", but sometimes I suck at searching.

Anyway... I was thinking about making a thread for your Top 5 VGs of all time, and then I realized that's waaaay too difficult for me, and probably a lot of other people as well. So here it is, a place to list as many games as you'd like and explain why.

So here's my list, in a loose chronological order. Prepare yourselves for a heavy dose of images and nostalgia.

Super Mario Bros. (NES)

I don't really need to explain this one; it's a legend

Super Mario Bros. 3 (NES)

If I HAD to pick a "favorite videogame of all time", this would be it. I distinctly remember playing this with my brother as a small child. There's so much nostalgia tied to this game.
...and I still don't understand how we discovered the location of the secret flutes in both worlds 1 and 2.

Duck Hunt (NES)

The first FPS I ever played. Killing ducks with a peripheral ray gun. Hell yes.

Trog! (NES)

I seriously doubt anyone else recognizes this game, but it's one of the 15 or so games I ever owned for my NES. It's a legend in my mind, specifically for being the first co-op game I ever played.

Super Mario 64 (N64)

This is another game that has too much nostalgia/memories tied to it. I remember calling my cousin up (quite a feat since he lived in a different state and this was the age of land-lines and dial-up, and I was rather young) specifically to ask him how to beat the first boss, the big Bob-Omb.

Star Fox 64 (N64)

Would you believe me if I said I remember the exact moment I received this game as a gift from my parents? It was in 1998 and I was only 8 years old, but I remember so vividly how my brother and I eagerly unwrapped it after a successful night at Chuck E. Cheeses. I don't think we ever managed to beat the gamy by flying up the "left side" of the solar system. That final zombified Star Wolf battle was too tough.

Pokemon Red/Blue Version (Game Boy)

I'll admit, I still buy the occasional updated Pokemon game and play through it, the latest being Pearl. I'll probably pick up Black/White when it comes out.

Metal Slug and Bust-a-Move (Arcade)

The ultimate arcade games. Almost always found paired together, I've spent many a quarter climbing to higher and higher levels in these two games.

Roller Coaster Tycoon 1 and 2 (PC)

I've spent an unbelievable amount of time on this series. It's so important to me that I've transferred all my saved games and custom tracks from laptop to laptop as time has elapsed.

Command and Conquer: Red Alert 2 (PC)

The C&C games are a joke nowadays, but this was the first RTS I played and I got really into it. I think I was able to take on 7 Brutal opponents at my peak.

Counter-Strike 1.5/1.6/Source (PC)

Thinking about 1.5 makes me sad because I used to have a 5-digit steam account for which I completely forgot the login info. Sigh. Anyway, this is probably the only game from the 90's that I still regularly play. It would be #2 or 3, tied with RCT, as my favorite game ever. I'm excited to see that Valve is finally showing Source some love with a new beta, even if they've barely changed anything.

Super Smash Bros., Super Smash Bros. Melee (N64/GC)

This would be game #4 on my list. It got me into a lot of fights with my good friends, but we always reconciled after a day and resumed beating each other to a pulp. Marth 4 lyfe

Super Mario Sunshine (GC)

You know, I guess Mario kinda dominated my life.

Diablo II (PC)

The first time I ever considered myself addicted to a videogame was when I couldn't stop playing D2. I even went as far as purchasing a Stone of Annihilation from an online vendor for my Necro. Jeez, I had no life in Freshman year of High School thanks to this game.

Resident Evil 4 (GC)

I've spent at least 100 hours playing this game, which is shocking since that involves nothing but playing the single-person campaign over and over. (With a healthy dose of the Mercenaries on the side) Brilliant game, it's such a shame RE5 sucked.

Gauntlet Legends and Gauntlet: Dark Legacy (N64/GC)

Co-op play at its finest. For me, this stands out as the best cooperative videogame ever. Don't steal my ****ing treasure chests or I wont save you from the grim reaper next time.

Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 2, and Halo 3 (XB/XB360)

The king of console multiplayer, and I absolutely cannot f*cking wait for Reach.

Left 4 Dead 1/2 (PC)

This game comes really close to toppling Gauntlet as my favorite co-op game. I remember that a lot of people complained (and even organized an official boycott) because they felt Valve didn't include enough content in the original game. However, I feel that I got my money's worth and then some. The expert campaigns are amazingly intense and versus is awesomely fun if you're playing with the right people.

Anyway hm. I don't play that many videogames, especially anymore, but (without any particular order)...

Final Fantasy Tactics
Final Fantasy VII
Xenogears
Sonic 3/Sonic & Knuckles
007 Goldeneye
Mario Kart (N64 or Wii are the ones I'm most familiar with)
LoZ: Link's Awakening
LoZ: Ocarina of Time
Grandia
Metal Gear Solid
Duck Hunt

I fell in love with this game the first time I played it. Then I kept on falling in love with it for about 7 more times. Terrific game with really lovable characters and an enthralling storyline.

Awesome RPG for the Playstation 1. Really enjoyed playing this one.

I'll just go with the latest one, but I've been playing the series since '98.

Well... it's Ocarina of Time.
