I really loved that movie, primarly for Birch and Buchemi, they're both fantastic and I really indentify with Birch's character in particular.
It's very cynical, existential humor, like a Crumb comic, that's true for all of Zwigoff's stuff. I love the humor though it's very understated, what made the film work the most for me was the characters and their relationships. Overall one of my favorite films of the last decade. I love it, I find it both hilarious and sad. It captures so many things so perfectly, especially art school nonsense and obsessive music fans. As you might imagine, I can relate to both.

First of all NO Romance, which is a very awesome thing. Most of the character are not pains in the ass.The awesome action, and violence of The Punisher is shown well in this movie also. It is personally my favorite movie ever. |

What does everyone see in this? It was shite. Undeveloped characters, underdeveloped story. Terrible ending. I'd class it as average, because it isn't horribly made. And I enjoyed it slightly more because I didn't know it was about a guy who gets media attention and then his past comes back to haunt him. So when it all unravelled I knew nothing and was completely surprised. If you did a bit of research into this film and knew what it was about, nothing would come as a shock to you really. How anyone can hold this in such a high regard is beyond me. |

Haven't seen it but Cronenberg is an awesome director so it's one I want to see.
