I like Miller's Crossing but I do agree that it's not one of their standout movies. I think the issue is it's too much of a regular gangster movie and lacks the things that makes their other movie so unique.

These a point.

Are Coen Brother's films unique? I'd say so apart from

Intolerable Cruelty and Ladykillers. Both a bit cack and one was a remake. No Country wasn't overly unique, 2 bad guys 1 chasing the other for money.. but the way they did it was very good. The Man Who Wasn't There was unique I felt. I feel it's one of their more overlooked films. The Big Lebowski wasn't unique really and people have issues with the ending. I think The Big Lebowski is overrated. Enjoyable but not THAT good... Don't lynch me.

When I say unique, I'm not trying to suggest they don't have their influences, just that they have a certain distinct flavor. I definitely agree with you about Intolerable Cruelty and The Ladykillers. I like the former and don't like the latter but neither has a uniquely-Coen vibe. I do, however, think The Big Lebowski has that vibe I'm talking about, in spades. What issues do people have with ending? I've never heard that criticism of it before.

I think the WAY they do even a traditional style of film. For example a western thriller.

thought I'd throw that in there. The Big Lebowski is generally considered as their best amongst fans, yeah? I just felt they have better. And really? Sure I've heard a few winging about them just being at a bar or whatever. Didn't really listen they were moaning about a decent film so I didn't really take it in.

I'm not sure I understand what you're saying. Are you saying people complained because the last scene of the movie took place at the bowling alley bar?

Can't remember, I just remember people having something against the ending. It was on here that I read it. So any people that don't like the ending of the film let Janszoon know.
