Is it that hard to accept that it is simply noir with cowboy hats? Anyway...

I don't really go for slapstick. Everything about that film was so over the top it became really annoying.

And you haven't seen Blood simple or Miller's crossing so you can't really claim that's the best one they ever made....

Those two are good, but I wouldn't put them anywhere near Raising Arizona. I have to say it never would have occurred to me to describe it as slapstick. I guess it has some elements of it but no more so than O Brother Where Art Thou or The Big Lebowski.

Which is why I'm probably gonna keep avoiding O brother. I don't recall anyone in Lebowski being as loud or obnoxious as Cage and Hunter were and the camera work was nowhere near as gimmicky and in your face. :\

Not sure, I just felt they have far better movies. Didn't take to that one much first time I saw it.

I like Miller's Crossing but I do agree that it's not one of their standout movies. I think the issue is it's too much of a regular gangster movie and lacks the things that makes their other movie so unique.

It's interesting how two people can have such different perceptions of the same movie. I honestly can't think of a single part of the movie where either Cage or Hunter are loud and obnoxious. And for that matter I can't think of any camerawork that I would describe as gimmicky, unless you're thinking of the one Evil Dead homage they threw in there.

These a point.

Are Coen Brother's films unique? I'd say so apart from

Intolerable Cruelty and Ladykillers. Both a bit cack and one was a remake. No Country wasn't overly unique, 2 bad guys 1 chasing the other for money.. but the way they did it was very good. The Man Who Wasn't There was unique I felt. I feel it's one of their more overlooked films. The Big Lebowski wasn't unique really and people have issues with the ending. I think The Big Lebowski is overrated. Enjoyable but not THAT good... Don't lynch me.
