I don't watch this show but maybe I should start. Seems like almost no one hates it.

I'm not gonna spoiler tag my post, so I'll be vague enough so goofle doesn't have to drink anymore, due to Mad Men spoilers anyway...

I didn't like season 5 as much as the other seasons.

-There was not enough Don. Like, some episodes I forget he was in the show
-And advertising? I felt there wasn't enough advertising
-Joan's story in the 10th? episode felt really forced and should have evolved over several episodes
-Usually Mad Men's metaphors are fairly clever, but I felt they beat you over the head with them this season, especially the one they used with Don in the finale. But! Peggy's new account (and the slogan that will eventually go with it) and the James Bond themes were great!
-Pete. This whole season. Not because I liked him personally as a character, but because they spent too much time with him and his motivations needed more time to develop. It also felt very soap opera-ey And the scene in the hospital room? Straight out of All my Children. Lane became my favorite character with his scene with Pete.

On the other hand...
-Roger's character arc actually made sense to me and I wish they spend some more time on it. It was a big reason he's still my favorite character on the show
-The scene with the green Jaguar in the parking garage? Great use of black humor.
-Hilarious/clever way to cover up a pregnant January Jones
-The end of the episode was blunt, but was the correct way to set up next season.

I agree with you for the most part, but the good bits were REALLY good. Episode 12 stuck with me all last week...especially after the Jaguar incident. I thought after that, surely we were in the clear.

Pete pissed me off in just about every scene he was in this season. Sometimes I feel for the guy, other times I want to punch him right in the throat.

Aside from that, I think the season finale was lame. It felt like it should have been in the middle of the season...it was hardly a finale. Especially coming off epidose 12.
