Damn you!!! (did you like it or not?)

I loove that book . Mostly the weird sense of humor and the words he used kept me glued on, devouring text after text!

It's quite a well known fact that Oscar Wilde was Bisexual. This gay-ish side of his was rooted in very deep found 'admiration' towards certain men - yes, admiration beyond words were the impulses Wilde had. His acquaintances with Alfred Douglas (who coincidentally, resembles Dorian Gray in many ways, but the book was written before meeting Douglas) wasn't exactly a secret, but he always feared 'unacceptance' if the topic were to spring up in public (which eventually did). But the most striking quality about Wilde (to me at least) was not his charm; not the humor nor the wit; neither was it about the great plays he wrote, although these do rank high up there. It's his kindness - the kindness beyond belief persona, which in fact, truth be told, led to his downfall. As Jeeves would put it, 'A gentleman's gentleman'. And certainly - this explains a bit gay-ish part of the book, but its mostly in small doses - and never really gets too graphic.

I do say this because, when it comes to Wilde, it's very hard to separate his writings without relating to his life.

Timequake is nothing amazing but it will be more enjoyable to you if you've already read a lot of other Vonnegut books.

I've previously read, Slaughterhouse-Five, Cats Cradle and Breakfast of Champions. I have enjoyed everything so far. I should have bought one of his other novels and kinda feel stupid for not. I'm going to make another trip to the bookstore soon though because I have $5 off my next purchase over $25.

I'm not trying to say Timequake is a waste of time by any means, it's just that he deliberately wrote it to be his final novel and it contains a lot of references to his previous work. So if you read it without having read a lot of his books you're missing out on a big chunk of what's going on.

Yeah I understand. I might pickup more of his novels before reading it anyway. It wasn't really the one I wanted to purchase, but I was in a hurry so I quickly grabbed it and left. I plan on reading everything I can find by him anyway, so its good either way.
