One of my absolute favorites was "Unreasonable Man" which was about Raplh Nader. I went in hating him and was floored to find out he'd really spent the 60's and 70's going to the mat on grounds of good civics for the little guy. The reasonable man adapts himself to the world; the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore all progress depends on the unreasonable man. ~ George Bernard Shaw

Truly a work of art and of my favourites since I saw it nearly 20 years ago. Stunning cinemtography and score. A film without any narrative that says more in it's stunning images about mans evolution in the world than any words could say.

The best documentary I've seen of the September 11 attacks. The documentary is composed entirely of amateur footage and some of the footage had never been show until this point. Highly recommended, even if it's long. It follows the real time as the events unfolded.

I guess my favorites are basically the ones I've seen because I haven't seen too many. These are the two that immediately come to mind:

Attenborough is just great. Have you seen Microcosmos by the way? You might like that . It's more of a piece of art than a documentary, but it's so beautifully made. Eitherway, best documentary/music film ever is probably woodstock. I like Louis Theroux, too. Love his direct style and the way he gets away with stuff.

Anyone else interested in/watch prison documentaries? Or gang stuff?
I've watched every one I could get my hands on, and I'm always happy when I see one on MSNBC. I just find prison life and the prison system here really crazy and interesting. Ever since I took a Race and Ethics class freshman year of college I've been really interested. The SuperMax stuff on prisons is my favorite. Also, there is some really great stuff on the Aryan Brotherhood that is on YouTube for anyone interested in this sort of thing. |
