I love how at the end the kids are looking up to Ted Haggard even though he would be one of the evils of the world that the lady preach would rant about if it was made after his scandal.

Also,

I saw it a few years ago then re-watched a month or so ago. Or I should say I tried to re-watch it. I was so repulsed that I only made it about 20 minutes in. I'm glad they shut that shit down.

so they shut it down huh?.....i always thought it was kind of funny that they would have a christian training camp at Devil's Lake...why not at Angels Grove or something along those lines

it kind of freaks me out cause my sister has recently become reborn and i see the effects of this on my nephews and especially on my niece(9) (who told their pastor that i was probably going to hell because i told her not everybody believes in god)....i actually brought my nephew Kenyon (11) down to Reno to hang out and eat nachos and watch The Dark Knight on Wednesday and he told me he was going to a church camp this summer and that he was going to apply for junior counselor....i almost immediately came up with an excuse to leave him at the house while i ran to the store and called my sister.....she tells me it's just a summer camp with a bit of church stuff and that she is a member of a more progressive church rather than a complete nut bag one

still....i want to see them grow up with the ability to make decisions about stuff like this for themselves when they are at an age to understand what faith really is

the kid i was talking about is this one

seriously NO child that age should ever have to say "it makes me feel guilty"

Right, this is a book. It was also turned into a 3 part Documentary. Heavy, dense stuff right here. Watched it in high school and was reminded of it recently in another thread- this is a seriously good brainy watch. Just, clear your calender cus it's like 8 hours altogether. It's available on youtube too if I'm not mistaken.

I haven't seen the movie by I've read the book and definitely thought it was a fascinating read.

I like watching documentaries about WW2, drugs, medical mysteries, odd people, serial killers, and biographies.
