SNAP! Avatar was my first I still recommend only seeing Avatar in 3D. It was pretty awesome the way it all worked out in 3D.

It sure beats Celine Dion.

The James Horner score is pretty damn good, though I would have liked something a bit more "alien" sounding and not like something out of a movie set in a South American rainforest.

You speak as if it's your virginity

this is nuts...just that this thread is still going proves how popular avatar is.

there isn't one other movie being discussed like this.

and yes 3d is awesome and it has inspired me to go to the movies more.

Can someone please explain to me what's so fascinating about a technology which is not only incredibly gimmicky but also 50+ years old?

Well, apparently people either like 3D movie or they don't. I want to see a 3D movie to see which of them I belong to It is an old technology, but it's quite now where I live, so...

for one the movies were filmed with that specific purpose in mind and the overall presentation is much more believable.

the ones you are talking about...like watching "the blob" in 3d with the red and blue glasses...i did that and i must say the difference is like night and day.

3D is pretty new over here, my local cinema has JUST got it's 3D screen/technology whatever.
I've never seen a film in 3D except Avatar, that is why I am pretty fascinated by it. As it's all new to me. I've heard some Chinese whispers that 3D is massive across the pond, this is probably why you're not phased by it, if the whispers are true that is.
