someone mentioned the game adaptation... it seems to be getting good reviews so far.

Whoa boy. I knew things wouldn't get pretty if Sodacake got a hold of this thread.
Anyway, this film might not impress the critics (those guys suck anyway) but I think commercially it's a safe bet to say it's gonna perform admirably. This is James Cameron, in 3 decades he hasn't had a commercial failure yet (not including his debut film, Piranha 2, lol), Abyss was his least successful but if I recall, even that film did pretty f*cking well. Also, I'm often very cynical when it comes to CGI, they rarely ever wow me as much as more traditional special effects did, but what I've seen from Avatar so far has managed to do that, the detail and animation done on the aliens looks incredibly well done and I'm saying that just from the trailers I've seen on a small screen tv. I can't imagine how awesome it would be to see it in theaters with the 3D effects being used, and so it's a movie I'm anticipating to see. Last edited by boo boo; 12-07-2009 at 06:12 PM. |

Couldn't care less about the accent, Americans butcher plenty of accents themselves, not to mention other countries' history. It's a piece of fiction, enjoy it for what it is...unless it turns out crap.

My buddy who works on movie sets is pretty much salivating from both heads for this movie. Back in August he actually wanted me to drive with him to Calgary so we could see a 16 minute trailer on a big screen. Obviously I told him to take a bus, or wait five minutes for someone to upload the trailer to Youtube, but he was quite adamant to get himself to Calgary. I'm not really that intrigued by the movie, however I will say that the CGI effects look absolutely stunning, but the overall plot doesn't really do anything to catch my fancy. Most likely I will end up renting it when it comes out on DVD and watching it, but unless the girl I'm seeing right now wants to go, I doubt I will go see it in theaters.
