Heh, one of the big reasons I'd rather have a 360 than a PS3 is because of it's backwards compatability, and I really want to check out games like Psychonauts and Panzer Dragoon Orta.

Blah, I admire the 360 for actually being what it's supposed to be, A GAME SYSTEM.

Well here's a short list of reasons why I am more interested in the 360 than the PS3.

1. Better controller
2. More interesting exclusives... Gears of War 2, Fable II, Dead Rising, Mass Effect
3. Backwards compatability with original Xbox games
4. Xbox Live Arcade
5. While some might call the Xbox achievements a novelty, I think it's a brilliant way to give games more replay value, and actually being able to save your score and share it with your friends so you can show them how inferior they are to you? Ah yes, the spirit of the arcade lives on
Actually i meant the wireless ones. I know the older ones were way worse but i still don't like them. Dont get me wrong, it's not like i think its a massive problem. If the 360 had more to offer me than the PS3 then my dislike for their controllers wouldn't stop me from buying one, it's not like they are that bad. I still have a N64 for a start and their controllers were massive.

Ultimately i want my PS3 to be a games system too. It's not like i thought it would be funny to get a £300 DVD player. But i use it to stream also and if i have a PS3 whats the point in buying a DVD player for my bedroom?

And yeah, the PS3 is backwards compatible to PS2 and PS1 depending on what model you have. I don't think it's 100% backwards compatible but it must be close. You cant play either of the first two Guitar Hero's but they are the only two PS2 games i know are definites. The only model that was backwards compatible was the 60g as far as im aware and they aren't producing them anymore which is a little disappointing really.

Yeah its the very first PS3, that has the memory card ports aswell. Only the 60gb one can play PS1&2 games, I have this one.

Ok, for once I'll put the fanboism aside and try and weigh down the pros and cons of each system as fairly as possible.

Xbox 360:

+Fantastic wireless controller
+Largest library of all the next gen consoles (not including backwards compatable games or downloadable retro titles)
+Most reliable online service
+Xbox live arcade offers a wide selection of retro clasics
+Backwards compatable with several Xbox games

-Hardware is quite prone to overheating and malfunction, and can also be quite fragile and not very durable when it comes to accidents
-Most games are also available on PC
-Online service requires a monthly fee unlike PS3 and Wii's online
-Backwards compatability is limited and dosen't work for every Xbox game
-Peripherals needed in order to play DVDs

PS3:

+Can play DVDs without the need of peripherals
+Newer and more complex hardware means there is often more waiting between high profile releases than the 360
+Free online, inluding multiplayer
+Much more durable than the 360
+Sixaxis controller has motion sensing capabilities

-Smaller library and exclusives than the 360 and Wii
-While it's price has dropped over the years, it still has a steeper price tag than it's competitors
-Playstation Store offers fewer games than Xbox Live Arcade and Virtual Console/WiiWare
-No longer backwards compatable with PS2 games
-Online quality hasn't caught up with 360 quite yet

Wii:

+WiiMote offers a more unique interactive experience and a growing variety of peripherals (Wiimote, Wiimote & Nunchuck, GC Controller, Classic Controller, Balance Board) means a wider variety of control styles that can be used
+Complete backwards compatability with Gamecube games as well as most GC peripherals
+Virtual Console service provides a huge selection of classic games as well as the WiiWare service which provides original downloadable content
+A fantastic first party library boasting many of the biggest gaming franchises which are exclusive to Nintendo systems
+Extremely durable, and also boasts faster loading times

-Weak third party support, with Capcom, Ubisoft and Sega being the only real strong supporters
-An overflooded market of low quality shovelware games
-Inferior graphics to the 360 and PS3 means it is often left out on big multiplatform titles and often getting nothing more than half assed, watered down ports
-Online multiplayer is seriously flawed
-Cannot play DVDs or CDs

So which one is the best? How about who f*cking cares? Get whichever one you want.

Besides, this war is futile, Sega Genesis will always be the best console ever.

Actually that game was on the Genesis too.... granted the soundtrack wasn't as good, but it did have Radar Love as an extra song.

Never played Mutant League Football, but Mutant League Hockey was awesome. Use to play it with the Sega Channel way back in the day. Technically my first console was a Sega Genesis my Aunt gave me (because she and her husband got a Super Nintendo). I had no games for the system other than Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King, and Earthworm Jim. I really never played it because I was so busy with my PC gaming, but I fondly remember playing games with the Sega Channel for a month or two before they cut our service or we canceled it or something.
