Even a month or so ago, I tried to play a game of Fifa 10 and it took a while to connect. 5 minutes for a match, I was 4-0 up once and the connection went. It wasn't my internet's fault so I assume it was the PS3's fault. As for the reporting people thing, I think it's better that the PS3 doesn't have one. Not that I've ever been an absolute prick that mouths off over a headset but I suppose it gives you more license to have some banter. (If you're into that sort of thing) |

i'd also go for the PS3 over the xbox. the only time i've ever used an xbox (original) and considered it worthwhile was when it was modded to the point of basically having the built-in media center functionality that comes pre-packed with the PS3. there's been a 360 in the living room here for a few months, i've never seen it powered on, but the PS3 is rarely off.
also, if you happen to own a PSP the connectivity options are pretty nice as well. it streams videos no problem. when a friend of mine goes outside for a smoke he'll grab his PSP and stream an episode of South Park or Family Guy straight from the PS3. he's also the biggest Nintendo fan i've ever met, but he doesn't love his PS3 setup any less. as for the online thing. why would i want to pay the price of a new game every year so i can play online when the same service is offered for free on every other platform available (wii, ps3, pc)? i'm also pretty sure there's a way to get custom soundtracks working on the PS3 too, although you might have to pre-load the mp3s onto the hard drive. |

@ Mr Dave
So you've only ever played an Xbox original? But there's been a 360 in your close vicinity for a couple of months but haven't played it? I'm trying to get a general opinion from people who have tried both. I was very much so a Sony fan boy but conceded that the 360 was in fact better. People tend to defend their own. I'd rather pay £40 and have a better online service, than pay nothing and wait 5 minutes if I want a game of Fifa and get cut off when I'm 4-0 up. As for the PSP thing.. I had one, I thought they were beyond shit. But each to their own, if your mate likes it then fair play. I found it totally useless. |

I'm all for free speech but I don't think the same idiots should be allowed to subject rooms full of people to anything obnoxious from screaming into the mic to spewing racial slurs b/c their buddies think it's funny.
The thing that kills me is that from the sound of the voices its usually younger people doing this (don't get me wrong I know there are idiots in every age group...just saying) and I just can't fanthom how their parent or guardian can't hear them yelling crap at the top of their lungs. Who are these people and why were they allowed to breed? That's the question I find myself asking every other day while playing online. And yes I know i can mute them or not use a headset but I'm one of those people who enjoys communicating with my team and trying to work out at least a semblance of a strategy. I also play mostly with people I've met in person so we like to shoot the breeze during the waiting period in lobbies. But seeing as how this has nothing to do with Xbox or Ps3 I'm done. |

yeah the 360 really doesn't appeal to me or my circle of friends. i've seen and tried it in stores, that's about it, like a prettier version of something we've already seen too many times. my roommate got it because it was selling for cheap (used) and figured he might mod it someday.
as for the online service, it's a fickle thing, it depends on your location and the popularity of the title you're trying to enjoy. getting cut off when you're up 4-0 probably has more to do with the other player being a poor loser and disconnecting than anything else. the PSP only really started to shine when it started being used in conjunction with the PS3. it was 'ok' before, but never really beat out the DS or DSi for portable gaming fun. |

I typed that before I read the thing about the younger people doing it. So I think we're agreed on that. Their father's really should've considered a condom or taking a shit in the mothers hand bag on the first date. Well yeah, if you enjoy conversing with friends over it and it's being ruined by a childish pubeless twat screaming then fair enough, you should report them and get rid of the little bastards |

I thought the same thing as you but it cut off, I went to my player hub, and he got the win. Because I got cut off. Not the other way round. I've never ever heard of the PSP being any use to the PS3 tbh, so I'm unfamiliar with what it does. I'm glad no one has used "the ps3 has blu ray" argument yet. |

PS3 everytime.
I find the one I have reliable. Free internet. Good graphics. Good games. Nice controller. The reason I never bought an xbox was becuase the controller.

as for the whole online thing. the 4-0 turning into a loss... WTF. i believe you and all, just WTF, that's messed. the behaviour and verbal abuse can also be very lame. but overall online communities really depend on the game as opposed to the console or how users are handled. |
