The Horde in WCIII was pretty beastly. The batriders could roflstomp a base better than most others factions could (maybe not frostwyrms, but that depends on the base).

If you guys aren't playing wow, you should. It unreal how much fun I have on this nerd box.

I used to play WoW and I guess I still do on and off. I think right now my highest is a 37 Troll Hunter.

I remember how frustrated I got when I lost in WCIII. Fuck steam tanks.

I bought WoW a while back and I was enjoying myself, but I had to go away for a week and when I came back it was update after update. It got to the point where I I was spending more time waiting for updates to download and install than I was actually playing the game. I'm an impatient gamer, I can handle loading screens, but not waiting for updates and servers to open.

Lost Vikings (Puzzle platformer), Rock N Roll Racing (Battle racing) and Blackthorne (Cinematic platformer), all underrated classics on the SNES.

And Justice League: Task Force which is one of the worst fighting games I've ever played. So yes in fact, they have at least one bad game.

Rock N Roll Racing was massive. not at all underrated, nor ignored. (still hella awesome today). like RC Pro Am on metal steroids. it was our drinking game of choice in college hehe

Blackthorne was a sci-fi take on the original Prince of Persia with a bit of an Out of This World twist.

can't comment on the Lost Vikings, seemed too much like a kiddie game to me when it came out. from the reviews i remember, i missed out.

as for the idea that it can't be compared to anything or that it was a different company. well... no. the comparisons are easy. the reasons and justification are even simpler. new company, bills needed to be paid so they can fund their 'big' projects. even the first Warcraft wasn't that original, Dune 2 preceeded it by 2 years.

if anything, the company that Blizzard is now, is the one that is so far removed from its heyday that it should be called something else. for anyone curious as to where a fair chunk of the core group of developers who helped shape the original diablo went off too...

Well they actually did change their name, they used to be called Silicon and Synapse.

mr dave 10-31-2009 09:30 PM

yeah i was a little hyperbolic in that last comment. it's just at this point all they seem to do is rehash their franchises. the original Diablo is the last (and arguably the only) original release they put out.

i'm not complaining, just saying. great games? hell yes. the be all end all of games? hell no.

I used to play Starcraft 7 hrs a day. It was probably the most obsessed i've ever gotten over a game.

I need to check out Starcraft. I take it the PC original is the absolutely essential version? Starcraft 64 looks like a good port but people seem to hate how the controls were implemented.

I'd definetly go with the PC version. Any post 90s PC should be able to run it just fine, so why not? :)

I like Blizzard alot and have since they were silicon & synapse. Rock 'n roll racing is my favourite racing game for the snes, lost vikings was awesome. Blackthorne was good although that one was well in Flashback's shadow for me.

I've played most of their titles by far. Warcraft II and Starcraft are the RTS games I've spent the most time with in my life. I don't even have anything against World of Warcraft, I thought it was a lovely and polished game. Blizzard actually made changes to it and improved it - a satisfying experience when coming from other games where the devs seemed to leave issues unresolved for years. Not that I've played it since 2005, but at least then it was much better than games like Age of Conan is today.

I like Blizzard and I'm eagerly awaiting Starcraft II in particular. :D

agreed... and as wrong as this is going to sound. microsoft should totally strike a deal so they can package the original Starcraft in Windows as a replacement for the card games. haha
