I like subtitles in scary movies. One of the scariest movies I've ever seen is called Ju-On (the original Japanese version of The Grudge) and it has subtitles. Scary as hell but the plot is stupid.

I saw that.

It wasn't scary. I was just glad to see the original.

It really depends how you watch it. The first time I saw it it wasn't scary because my friends and I were laughing like hell at the little asian kid. But then I watched it again by myself at night and it was scary as fuck.

But hey maybe you just don't get scared easily

Maybe.

I do understand what you mean about the subtitles, though.

One reason the subtitles help in that movie is because you can just ignore them and don't have to pay attention to the abysmal script

Oh I just generally love foreign films.

The Spanish have some sick minds, man.

xD

At least a lot of the Japanese stories are based on true stories. The Spanish just make it up.

Obvious titles that come to mind are El Orfanato (The Orphanage) and El Laberinto del Fauno (Pan's Labyrinth). Both are produced by Guillermo Del Toro and the latter is also directed by him.

I just recently saw [REC] which was what Quarantine was based off of, except like... well done. Relatively short film, but my god is the ending ever scary, I don't normally hug a pillow when I watch a horror movie (in fact I think that was a first) but I was holding onto my pillow like my life depended on it.
