I do think that the Harry Potter series is inventive and very well written, and I'm glad that it has helped spread the idea that books don't suck around my contemporaries. However, I've seen an article that claims Rowling is up there with Bram Stoker, Edith Wharton, and even Chaucer in Brit Lit, something I thought should have been called "Disregard everything after this, we're just try to prove how bat**** crazy the author of this article is."

I was really dissapointed withthe Half-Blood Prince movie, because it's my favorite book of the series, and they cut out so much of it so it could have 'teen appeal' |

The teen romances etc in the book were used to demonstrate how the characters are growing up. So some of that stuff was definitely needed. They just went a bit over the top I think. Remember, they're always going to cut out heaps of stuff from the books. It would be impossible to include everything. You can't be too critical But I know what you're getting at. |

i have no idea what this next installment was like but the third one was so awful i gave up on the film segments entirely. i caught snippets of the fifth one when i was in bed with food poisoning and too weak to change the channel, probably exacerbated my sickness quite a bit.

Being part of the HP generation, I remember back to my last year of primary school when during reading time, 75% of the class as well as the teacher would pull out the latest HP book. My uncle bought me the first book before it was popular, and I've loved the series ever since - I've read them all at least 4 times and some of them many times more. The fifth book is my fav.
While I don't like the films anywhere near as much as the books (and loss in adaptation was always inevitable), I do enjoy most of them. Though I think HP5 suffered from being the longest book yet the shortest film. I've always thought Luna was was the most accurately depicted character - Evanna Lynch was born to act as Luna. I liked the HP6 film despite all the added/removed/changed content. But the romance scenes were admittedly a bit weird - especially the shoelaces one. There was as much sexual tension in HP6 as in High School Musical. And Emma Watson is of course looking fine.
