Anyway I think it was a good move by Square Enix from a money making point of view. Exclusive titles are pretty annoying and only help redeem purchase of a system I'm sure plenty of PS3 owner have wanted to check out a game like L4D and I'm sure alot of xbox owners have wanted to check out ummm whatever good games the PS3 has. And Knights of the Old Republic shits all over FF and Fire Emblem.

... Multi platform titles are exactly what they are, games for more than one platform. What a system needs to outshine its competition is exclusive games that essentially adds to that system's personality and appeals to its users. This anthropomorphism of the system is what makes great systems what they are. Without exclusive titles, a platform is basically generic and easily replaceable. Imagine if Zelda and Pokemon were to become multi platform... could you imagine how much Nintendo's sales would plummet? It is these exclusive titles that separate one console from the next.

if yours hasn't conked out then congratulations to you. you probably have something from a subsequent production run after the issue was addressed. it has NOTHING to do with how the consumer handles their hardware or their mental capacity. ---- as for the necessity of exclusivity. it's ridiculous, ESPECIALLY when it comes to third party development. back in the heyday of the 2nd coming of home consoles (mid 80s NES / master system) exclusivity did exist because the hardware developers had in-house software developers. nintendo still has that, sony and microsoft do not, instead S and M pay boatloads of cash to 3rd party developers to maintain exclusivity rights. it's a bad deal all around and only serves to stroke the egos of a very small portion of the market who want to convince themselves that having the 'right' piece of hardware matters for something. with the rising costs of development and the increasing expectations of the market it seems really foolish for large scale, high presentation games like FF13 to maintain exclusivity. even if everyone who owned the console bought it they'd probably still lose money. the idea of exclusivity adding to the 'personality' of a console is just sad on so many levels. |

So let me ask you this, what is your basis in purchasing a console?

if you say anything that isn't tantamount to... 'ps3 is utter trash and a paper weight' '360 has the most best games' 'nintendo is the greatest thing ever' ...you're words will be twisted to make you look like a sony fanboy and it will become worthless to continue posting. last time i was trying to explain why the wii was good but not great, along with how publishers control what developers create and basically got dragged into a ps3 vs. wii battle. i figure i might be able to sneak in one or two more replies before it happens again. |

just because something has been announced doesn't mean it won't be delayed, re-vamped, re-imagined, re-branded, re-sold, re-acquired, before potentially hitting the shelf. halo was supposed to come out for macs first. |
