By comparison, a lot of old 2D games still look very nice.

When I say old games I don't mean THAT old.

Hey now, that's what video games looked like when I was a kid! Are you trying to tell me I'm old?
In all seriousness, even back then there were some games that were kind of cool looking, like Yar's Revenge: |

I love the old school look of NES games, and a lot of the old arcade classics as well.
This game is 30 years old and it still has more color than Gears of War. Last edited by boo boo; 09-14-2009 at 11:19 PM. |

That's new skool. I'm talking Atari 2600 here! And I'd just like to say I still own mine—sitting in a closet about 15 feet behind me as I type this—and I still have a copy of Yar's Revenge.

Atari is before my time, but I do enjoy some Atari games.
By the time I started playing video games, the NES and Genesis was what it was all about. |

Junior high for me though in some ways that means the NES had more of an impact on me, or at least in a different way. I actually just bought a Mega Man collection and a Sonic collection to reminisce with. Some of those Atari games were pretty kickass though. Chopper Command, The Empire Strikes Back, Venture, Cosmic Ark, Atlantis and the aforementioned Yar's Revenge all come to mind as really great Atari games.

i still think the absolute, bar none, top of the pile, same screen multiplayer game is Warlords. again, a classic 2600 game. we started playing this game in college, in 1999, we'd chose it over starcraft, quake 1,2,3, and the original unreal tournament for 4 player action. a dude on the top floor of our dorm had a bunch of 2600s and we'd take breaks from our LAN to game up there haha. |

You know what was another pretty fun multiplayer one? Combat. Especially the levels with the bouncing bullets. (Looking at the picture makes me glad we had a black and white TV when I was growing up though.) |
