She better be, otherwise she was a real red herring because there was all this build up to her being this mysterous character with a secret significance to what's going on, such as her being a patient at the same mental institution as Hurley and being the person who gave Desmond the sailboat he used in the race that eventually lead to him ending up on the island.

But she was killed off before we ever learned her story. And that pissed me off.

That's rather obvious. But what were Daniel, Miles and Charlotte's specific purposes on the island? They never bothered explaining this to anyone. Not even Naomi was told why these people she had to protect were so important to the mission.

It could be.

But when they were last seen, that was in the late 70s. If you recall from way back in the first season, Jack said the corpses must be at least around 50 or 60 years old because of the deterioration of the clothing, and the late 70s would have been less than 30 years prior to when the corpses were found.

That could have just been a factual inconsistency on the writers' part but I don't think it is.

Remember, the incident sent all the time travelers back to the present, I think that would include Rose and Bernard.

Even if they weren't sent to the present and were killed by the explosion that creates the alternate timeline, they would have been completely obliterated, as in no corpses left behind, remember, in the alternate timeline the island is completely underwater. And besides, these corpses were found in the main timeline so I don't think that's what it is. It's pretty obvious that in the main timeline the island hasn't been destroyed.

everyone in the alternate timeline will die. starting with Sun.

otherwise, when our beloved characters escape from the island, there will be two of everybody running around...

But in the alternate timeline, the Island doesn't exist. As shown in the first episode "LAX" the foot from the statue was under the ocean, thus the island not existing. So how could non exixtant people show up in a world of existant people from an alternate reality?

I would guess it's just to see if brainwashing works. Maybe that slide was in there because they captured Hostiles and forced them to watch the film?

I think they let Cynthia Watros go because of the drunk driving incident (She got caught a few minutes after Michelle Rodriguez). Even though it's confirmed that she will be back, but doubt that will really explain her character.

I think they were sent to the island because all three of them had a previous connection to the island. All three was also candidates (scratched out) according to MiBs cave and the Lighthouse dial. IMO, the whole science team was a ruse to get them there. If there was a specific scientific mission, they haven't mentioned it yet. Daniel was there to initiate "The Incident" and Miles helped convince his father to evacuate the Island.

Jacob is hands-off (ha!) on the island. He wanted Ben to make the right decision on his own.

To brainwash people. When the Others took over the DI, it's highly likely that they added the "Jacob" messages. I'm also pretty sure that Ben put Karl in Room 23 because he was pissed. Don't know why Walt was in there. Maybe they'll explain that one later...maybe.
