Lost In Translation, people are trying to hard to be sophisticated? What? The first time I watched it I wasn't thinking about sophistication, it was just instant enjoyment. There's nothing sophisticated about 2 people having a connection because of the culture they're surrounded with. But yeah, like you said people were gonna jump down your throat. But to say it's one of the WORST is ridiculous, not your cup of tea? Fine. |

There's nothing mildly beautiful or exciting about the movie, nothing happens. The 'connection' is so mild that it barely even comes into it.. they speak in a hotel bar and then go to a party in someones room. How anyone can call that a connection, or how this makes for a good storyline, is completely beyond me. I'm no close-minded idiot but I just cannot fathom the sense of enjoyment people seem to get from it. The impression that I get is a lot of people, not everyone, watch the film and think "ooh, I'm gonna say I like this because not a lot happens but people might think I have an underlying intelligence and that's why I'm drawn to it".
It's boring, monotonous and ridiculously droney. In my eyes, it is one of the worst films I have ever watched. |

Some that strike me as really bad are The Bachelor, The Descent... but I don't spend too much time thinking about totally awful movies. What bothers me more is when I have high expectations and something totally falls short. For instance, Lost Highway really bothers me because I had high expectations and it was total ****, imo.

They have conversations about not sleeping, they find a connection without loads of in depth conversations taking place. They know they're in the same boat and they just spend time with each other and have fun, go to parties, go to restaurants and as the film goes on you can sense where it's going, that there's going to be a problem because they both live separate lives, even though their relationship is a bit strange, you want things to some how work out and then the film draws that conclusion. I don't think you can decide to like something, and there's no point in saying you like it if you don't, I don't even think it's regarded as an intelligent sophisticated film, just a very simple love story.. |

still, i enjoyed it myself for it's visuals, the really colorful leads and just how insane all of these events were.
