I have the limited run of the Withnail & I dvd with this Ralph steadman poster:
and that's another recommended film. Anyone who likes a drink should watch this film and love it forever.

If you liked City of God, you should check out Tsotsi, which is a film in the same vein of storytelling. I recently watched a Swedish film called "Let the Right One In" that I highly recommend. It's a hit among horror fans. It's more of a psychological drama about it 12-year-old boy's relationship with the girl that moved in next door, who happens to be a vampire. The pacing is a bit slow, so if you can't hanlde that, I wouldn't recommend that you see this film. and I fourth the Into The Wild recommendation. It's Sean Penn's best work. If you haven't read the book by Jon Krakauer, I highly recommend that you pick it up. |

Seen it, love it, absolutely recommend it. I own it on DVD it's that good. I wasn't such a dan of Tsotsi, I think I just didn't get into the storyline. I recommend American Ganster, North Country and The Man Who Cried. If you are into powerful storylines and real acting, these are movies for you.

ID is up there too. It's quite funny seeing people like Phillip Glenister & Perry Fenwick before they were famous. And it's got Reece Dinsdale playing the lead who I think is one of the most underrated actors in the UK.
