My favorite Coen bros films are Barton Fink and Fargo. Miller's Crossing is the only one of their's that I could do without.
Miller's Crossing is kind of middle of the road for me. It's okay, but I think it's a little too "standard issue mob movie" for it's own good, but I have to say John Turturro's performance pretty much makes the movie for me. I totally agree with you about how underrated he is. Did you see he's doing beer commercials now?

Yeah, I think I saw one during the superbowl. It makes me sad. He hasn't had a good role in a movie for a while. I just hope the Coen bros do a movie with their usuals again, like Turturro, Buscemi, and Goodman.

I liked Harrison in No Country too.

You're being way too harsh on the movie just because the characters are not stereotypically Coen oddballs.

They didn't have to be stereotypically Coen oddballs, I just wanted something that could sink my teeth into. Instead I got what felt like a bunch of half-assed ideas.

Well aren't you?

But seriously, what's not to get? Tommy Lee Jones basically flat-out explains the whole point of the movie in his monologue at the end.

I couldn't understand a word he was saying thanks to that thick Southern accent. I should have put subtitles, but by then I didn't really care.
