It's not an instant classic or anything, but it is a great film.

Its kind of hard to follow, but it is loaded with good actors, and its kinda good once you figure out wtf is goin on.

Really? I thought this movie was great. I think Sean Penn really captured Jon Krakauer's words; however, I'm I wasn't that impressed with Emile Hirsch. As for the story, I thought it was beautiful. I cried. May I ask why you didn't like it?

Sure, ask away...

Kidding, I think its a weak version of Walden Pond. I also think it was boring as hell. I even enjoyed The hatchet and brians winter better. I know those last two books had a different idea behing them, but thats more of what I was hoping for from Into the Wild. Also, I feel its overrated because every college kid in the 'indie' scene jumped all over it. From reviews and trailers I thought there would be much more to the movie. I know i'll prob get tore up for that last sentence.

I see. Well, I've not much to say now because I haven't seen Walden Pond. I've read Walden, but didn't realize there is a movie. I didn't think it was boring. I rarely cry in movies and this absolutely touched me. The last two books you mentioned kind of rings a bell, but I'm not familiar with them. Author?

Why? The Departed was parts 1 and 2 conjoined. Ray Winstones American accent is awful (and he's one of my favourite actors too). It opens with a Rolling Stone song that is just so cliched and reminds me of Casino and Goodfellas. It was certainly watchable but oscar material-pah. Just a sympathy vote. has anyone seen the original material? now that is tights as a nuns bits even if the acting is not quite up there with some in The departed.

I haven't seen it but... It's Martin f*cking Scorsese.

And not to say he hasn't done some less than stellar films, even his worst films are at least OK.

Well, I really hated the Cape Fear remake, but other than that.

I meant Walden the book, Im just a bit retarded. The last two are books by Gary Paulsen. They are more about a character being stranded and having to survive, other than willingness to live like that. Dont get me wrong I did enjoy Into the Wild, I just feel it is overrated, kind of like Godspeed.....emperor.
