Uh, excuse me? One of the most hilarious comedies of the 90s? It's hardly even a f*cking comedy. I didn't laugh once, I guess I don't really get the humor in two incredibly sexist men being as cruel to women as possible, there's not even any jokes, that's all it is. What a horribly pointless and mean spirited film. Quote:

Also I don't get all the Rogen and Apatow hate, I think they're pretty funny, I enjoyed 40Year Old Virgin, Knocked Up and Superbad quite a lot.
Of course Apatow also wrote Fun With D*ck & Jane and Don't Mess With the Zohan, and Step Brothers was a piece of crap, but nobody's perfect. |
Hey I liked Step Brothers. It wasn't a very smart comedy but it was blatant in a funny way. I'll laugh at John C. Reilly for making a peanut butter and jelly sandwich though. And yeah, Rogen's a cool guy in my book. Apatow makes some funny movies, a whole lot of movies at that too.

I'm not saying it wasn't funny because it's stupid.
There's good stupid comedies out there, even the Farellys struck gold with Dumb & Dumber and There's Something About Mary. By the standards of most of todays stupid comedies, I will say Step Brothers is better than most. But there's been way better, maybe I shouldn't call it bad, overall it's a two star film for me, nothing appalling, but very forgettable. |
I mainly liked Boats and Hoes. Or that's the line I particularly enjoy and remember and sometimes recite when I play the drums on Rockband. But I thought John C. Reilly and Will Ferrell played good man-children.

^ Will Ferrel is the king of man-children!

Yeah, they play the roles well and were probably typecast. But they're good at it.
