I thought Revolutionary road was a watchable but mediocre and forgettable melodrama. Plus both Winslet and DiCaprio couldn't hold a candle to Michael Shannon who stole every scene he was in.

I've only seen American beauty which was ten times the film RR is, but I figure that was more down to Alan Ball than Mendes. (It's Sam btw).

I understand where you're coming from with the melodrama and Michael Shannon was amazing. I'm probably just biased because I'm a Richard Yates fan and the movie was surprisingly true to the novel. But still, Leo deifnetly deserved a nomination. The only bad part of that film was the score, it was painfully repetitive, and felt like music from the title screen to a DVD being played over and over.
