You're right, I forgot about that one--that was an upset. I thought the Israeli film would win hands down. Is that what you thought?

Frank Langella should've won a consolation Oscar made of chocolate for his Nixon, that was brilliant

@Johne: Yes definitely, if only because it was, if not the best, hands down the most powerful film of last year. I thought The Class was better myself, and I really liked Revanche too so any one of those 3 I would have been happy with. I'll be fair and say I haven't seen Departures so I can't attest to its quality, but as I said, if their previous decisions are anything to go by, I'll try not to expect much.

The Oscars are not perfect, but let's not kid ourselves, compared to the Emmys and the Grammys, they do have SOME credibility, last night proves that sometimes they DO get it right.

We all watch the Oscars, nobody watches the Grammys anymore.

True enough...

Slumdog fuckin cleaned up.

Kiwi22 02-23-2009 04:35 PM

I knew that Slumdog would be the big winner... but honestly besides the cinematography... I didn't think the film deserved all those awards...

I was happy that Heath Legder won for Best Supporting Actor!

Oscar Winner Reactions!

I doubt Alan Arkin even had to look at the letter to know Ledger would nab it.

Yay for Benjamin Button not winning any of the big awards!

boo boo 02-23-2009 10:07 PM

The way this one guy described the whole Button plot, I swear it's like a play by play remake of Forrest Gump.

Anyway guys. Because I knew it was coming, I watched O'Reily and Hannity and boy was I glad I did. They had lots to say about the Oscars and Penn's acceptence speech.

First off, O'Reilly jumped on Penn like crazy, that he only won it for political reasons, that Lengelia lost as "punishment" for humanizing Nixon, etc.

Hannity was a real gas though. He really seems to think Penn is the worst person in the world, just for being a liberal activist who thinks that Iraq wasn't the most brilliant idea in the world. He called him a bad actor, a moron, a hypocrite, anti-american, terrorist lover and did I mention a bad actor?

This guy is like friends with Chuck Norris and Stephen Baldwin, just so you don't forget.

Then he went on a rant about how the Oscars glorify sex and violence and I guess the sheer lack of appreciation for talking dog movies. There was also this guy Bo Dietl, big stupid fat Italian f*ck who pretty much called Woody Allen the corrupter of todays youth.

Also them guys on Fox&Friends are ranting because that piece of f*cksh*t Miracle at St. Anna wasn't nominated. Or was it some horribly made war movie I never heard of? Probably that, because Miracle at St. Anna had darky in it.

I am disappointed however in the lack of racist rants about Slumdog winning best picture.
