Yeah he was apparently but then I can allow the guy a little ego if he has the shit to back it up. Far too many faceless egos in music these days. If you are going to have an ego then at lkeast have something decent to back it up with! Ian Dury=genius. Definitely.

Yeah, that's sort of what got me to download one of his previous features, I married a strange person, but it didn't really suit my fancy. Too weird for my humble tastes...:\

^ Usually for me it's: The weirder, the better.
I guess I'll try to get I married a strange person if I find it.

I've loved every film made by him for now, but this one
So it sucked? I'm not familiar with the director but am willing to learn more...

True nuff, requisite ego we can allow. His lyrics are observant and witty but I've never been a fan of the Blockheads overall musically, just songs here and there. Still if you manage to see this any ensuing reviews would be heeded

He was one tough cripple, he would take it on the chin and pay it back with interest, then write 'Spasticus Autisticus'

You've probably heard of Vanilla sky with Tom Cruise? Well that's the remake of Amenabar's original Abre los ojos. He also made the fantastic The others with Nicole Kidman and Mar adentro with Javier Bardem (of the No country for old men fame) playing a quadriplegic fighting for his right to die a dignified death (based on a true story). I've not seen his debut Thesis though but I've heard good things about it, so he has a remarkable track record.

ah yes the Others was a rare modern example of a chilling ghost story (one of the few things England is good for I think is ghosts)... and yeah of course heard of 'the original Vanilla Sky'. Is it worth going back and watching that with Tom Cruise's maniacal grin and the corniness (for want of a better word) of the Hollywood version singed on my brain?
Mar Adentro intrigues, it's going on the list.

Are you guys on RYM? I've been using it lately to rate and catalogue films to a wishlist (scroll down the page a bit for the film section), else i end up forgetting all this stuff. Formerly used IMDB but this was extremely cumbersome and time-consuming

I think I once gave you a list of his films, as you were interested in checking Spanish movies. Thesis is a great movie, one of those thrillers that keep you on the edge of your seat. Abre Los Ojos, is much better than its remake Vanilla Sky btw.. and of course Mar Adentro, can surely get a spot as one of my favourite 10 movies of all times.

Now about Agora, still no one I know saw it. It was kind of disappointing knowing that they modified some of the Historical facts, but knowing this man's perfect filmography, I'll surely be watching it. I'll try to go this week, and reply to both of you about it.
