I certainly hate to watch him less, but I don't like him better as a character

Was gonna go to bed early last night but then the next Buffy episode was Once More with Feeling and I would have been too excited to sleep anyway.

Funniest show ever made tbh. Any scene with Alan Johnson or Super Hans is guaranteed gold.

On the 5th season of The Peaky Blinders and frankly kind of waiting for it to finish asap. It's just not the right formula for me. I find myself fast forwarding the violent scenes, I don't see the point of watching, repeatedly, episode to episode, how someone is smashing someone else's head in. And in this season they've decided the violence isn't enough, there needs to be a menacing protracted introduction to the violence so that the whole thing lasts a full 5 minutes. And whereas in the previous seasons they managed to balance out somehow the idea that these were criminals but "good criminals", they just go full on nasty here. Not a fan, but gotta finish it I guess. :/

Have to ask, why did you stick with it for five seasons? I usually give something a few episodes and if it's not for me I dump it pretty quickly. I'd never go a second, never mind fifth season of something I wasn't into. As far as this show goes, yeah, I watched maybe two eps, decided it wasn't to my taste and stopped watching. Was there/is there some plot arc or something that made you keep watching? Not criticising, just curious. Life's too short to waste on bad TV shows as far as I'm concerned.

Well, I would say until this season it was watchable. Not a great show, but full of great actors, the production is great, and the plot interesting enough to keep me watching. The violence was less gruesome and better distributed. They just gradually ramped up everything to keep viewers interested I guess, but for me they are crossing the line in Season 5. Now it's just about finishing it since I've already invested too much time.

But to be honest, since it's something I'm watching with my partner and he doesn't seem to mind that much, I feel obliged to continue so we can share in the experience. Otherwise I probably would have stopped a few seasons ago.

It's starting to be difficult to find shows we can both watch and enjoy and that last a few seasons at least. And especially now that we're apart so they also have to be easily available for him since he doesn't download (i.e. gotta be on Netflix).

Thanks for that. Just wondered. I can totally see how, if you begin watching something with someone you can get invested, more in his/her enjoyment of it than your own, or as you say just kind of hang in there because he enjoys it. I'm out of contract with Netflix and don't really intend to renew, as I seldom if ever used it, but I wonder, does your SO have or use the players - All 4/iplayer/Virgin Player etc? You can get a lot of really good shows that way, and it's pretty easy to circumvent the location restrictions on them. Just an idea.
