Yeah, some of the situations they set are real realistic.

I don't want to see every criminal shot, but there have been a lot of them that were, and it just seems that a lot of the time the guy gets arrested and it's disappointing to think he's going to a) get off maybe on a technicality when it comes to the trial b) end up in a psychiatric hospital or c) do a short amount of time and be back on the streets too soon. Muzzle of a gun cuts all that out. And again, yes, I know that doesn't happen in real life, nor would I want it to, but often they hype you up to the point where you're so pissed with the bad guy that you want him dead. And they do a lot of explaining the guy's behaviour, which I know they have to do as it's their job, but sometimes it takes the sting out of the climax of the show for me.
