Worth a watch definitely. Some rage inducing moments on it. On this series they have a men's island and a women's. On the men's one, one lad left after one day because he wanted a margherita pizza and missed his girlfriend. On the woman's one, one of them left because she's a beautician and didn't want her nails to get ruined.

There's one bloke doing fuck all to help the group and giving himself pedicures on the beach :D It's just odd.

Did you ever have a look at Dual Survival at all?

Cheers bud, looking forward to it.

Getting into Trailer Park Boys finally. Really interesting show, but it's not quite as funny as expected. I was surprised by the format too. I assumed it would be more of a sitcom as opposed to the pseudo-mockumentary gimmick.

Breaking Bad's cinematography is astounding, the storylines are solid, the concept of the series is fully unique and almost every episode leaves you with an aching to watch the next. It's a highly emotional, riveting series that will stay with me forever.

More like, so many people go on and on about it that it becomes annoying, and the show becomes annoying by association. Same reason I haven't watched The Wire yet. Because SOME PEOPLE here won't shut the **** up about it.

Can't wait till you dive in and become one of those people. And you will.

Goofle 05-05-2015 11:23 AM

You really should watch The Wire.

There's less crazy action stunts and more long takes, spotty lighting, and lots of fights in warehouses.

I imagine that hallway fight in the second episode was inspired by the hallway scene in The Raid.

Black Adder (1983)

I'd been meaning to watch this for quite some time because I use to love Mr. Bean as a kid. While the two shows are nothing similar, I do love Rowan Atkinson.

debaserr 05-09-2015 07:54 PM

I liked The Wire but I never thought it was on the level of my favorite prestige shows (Breaking Bad, Mad Men, Sopranos). It has some nice moments but there is a hell of a lot of mediocrity too.

Blackadder is one of my all time favorites, especially the 4th ww1 period season. Once you're done with the series (and assuming you'll like it :D) make sure to see "Blackadder Back & Forth", a 1999 follow up tv movie.

Sat down with a cup of tea and my Tele last night, lights dimmed, and started watching the second half of season 7 in Mad Men. **** I missed this show. So good.

Love Mad Men. Since I was born in 1960 a lot of it really resonates with me as far as the home life/family stuff goes.

It does remind me of some Hong Kong movies, but not so much John Woo as something like Johnnie To's Election movies. Some of the mood and camerawork is also reminiscent of South Korean movies like Oldboy or The Man from Nowhere. And the fight choreography has that stripped down flying-elbow-to-the-face style of The Raid: Redemption and Ong-bak.

I just finished watching the first season a few minutes ago, by the way, and I'd definitely say it keeps up the quality all the way through.

EPOCH6 05-12-2015 11:13 AM

I can definitely see the Oldboy / The Raid comparisons, the fight scenes in Daredevil were so entertaining, especially the longer takes.

The Batlord 05-12-2015 02:02 PM

I don't think anybody hasn't loved this show on this site. I'm gonna have to go finish my Frank Miller Daredevil issues pretty soon.

GuD 05-14-2015 09:05 PM

Broad City is pretty funny.

roscoe_the_first 05-15-2015 02:11 AM

Almost embarrassed to say it but I'm a Downton Abbey fan.

My sister and I have been closer since our parents died. She visted us and clearly wanted to discuss Downton Abbey. I said that I don't like soaps and wouldn't be seen dead watching something like that. She bought us the Seasons 1 -4 Box Set for Christmas. As Season 5 was due to start (in September)we decided to start watching it at the end of July. We watched the entire 4 seasons before September (36 episodes). We watched the first season in two days (9 episodes - never done that before)

IT'S FANTASTIC!!!!!!

The writing, the sceenplay, the characterization, Absolutely awesome Acting and the sheer spectacle.

I have to say that it's spoilt all other drama for me, it's amateurish by comparison.

For those who disagree I give you 140 million viewers worldwide per week.

Go on the IMDB website and look at the awards its won (view page by page)

It really grew on me too. Sometimes it's a bit gross, but that's just their style I guess.

In light of Letterman's final show, here's something interesting that ties in with the music of Bob Dylan and the punk world. It's actually a really good read.

The Strange Saga of Dylans First Letterman Gig -- Vulture

Wow, that was interesting. Quite a contrast with last nights performance.

Exo 05-20-2015 06:05 PM

I started watching Girls. This show is great. Holy sh*t Allison Williams is hot. Like...woah.

Engine 05-20-2015 10:03 PM

Watching Twin Peaks on Netflix. I know TV has reached such great heights with the paid subscription formats but no serial show tops Twin Peaks. None. Not Game of Thrones or The Walking Dead or Orange Is The New Black. You suck in comparison and you can all go to hell. It was made in 1990. For shame current TV people.

Talking of Game of Thrones, does anyone else find it to be incredibly boring? I have pretty much given up on it at this point.

No, you just have a brain tumor. Seek immediate medical attention.

Never seen Peep Show before. Just finished torrenting every series, took a few days.

This shit had better be good.

Goofle 05-23-2015 07:07 PM

How have you not watched it yet? And it will be.

Chula Vista 05-23-2015 07:11 PM

Into season 4 of Chuck and really loving how they keep dropping in 80s and 90s stuff all over the place. Last night's episode had Linda Hamilton telling Chuck "Come with me if you want to live" in the exact same cadence and tone as Arnold used when saying it to her in T2. A few episodes before they had Morgan aping a bunch of stuff from Bruce Willis in Die Hard.

Quite possibly one of the most subversive adult comedies I've watched in a long time.

Even when Tina Fey and Tracy Morgan tried waaaaaaaaaaay too hard to be funny? I'll have to admit that they made the Baldwin moments far better in comparison though.

This.

simplephysics 05-25-2015 12:12 PM

Man, give Tracy Morgan some credit. His ridiculous over the top performances outdid everyone on that show. It's really sad that he might not be able do comedy on that level anymore.

"4'33" was at least a good idea. Everything that Tina Fey has ever done is basically a cut-rate version of Bill Murray: Murray plays a character ironically, but through the genius of cocaine or whatever, manages to both play himself AND a believable character, maximizing the funny; she plays a character ironically to the point where the irony becomes overbearing and annoying, killing any believability her character might have had.

Well I've seen bits, but never paid attention tbh. Only time my telly gets switched on is for PS3 and televised football, unless there's something on I'm already interested in like news or summat.

Watched the first program, series 1.

The cancer bit is just :D

"What about the poo"

:D

Enjoying what I've seen so far.

Got all of The Office (UK) to watch as well, is this decent?

Goofle 05-26-2015 06:06 PM

In my opinion it's brilliant. Not as good as Extras though.
