You must watch them. If you've never seen Trailer Park Boys, it's a must. Bojack Horseman is amazing as well. It took a little bit for it to sink in for me, but it's so well done.

Bojack just doesn't do it for me. I've tried up to about four episodes in. Then again Archer was never a big one for me either. Though I did love Bob's Burgers.

Sparky 09-11-2014 02:27 PM

I didn't care much for archer either, but i do like Bojack. Occasionally the structure feels a little too reminiscent of family guy, and some jokes just plain aren't that funny. Other times the episode are fantastic, and mesh a bunch of themes together in a surprisingly poignant way for such a crude show.

Also finished the new trailer park boys which was good, but not as good as prior seasons. It's missing some of the low-fi visual aesthetic of appearing as though it was broadcasting on a public Canadian network. The sharper image quality is kind-off at odds with the show. Otherwise it's impossible not to love.

debaserr 09-11-2014 05:08 PM

Trailer Park Boys is also missing Clattenburg, the creator, if I'm not mistaken.

They do a good job riffing off of established characters, but I don't know how well they are at creating them (ie: DAWN).

And the way they shoot it loses a lot of the mockumentary feel.

I agree but after what they did to Arrested Development I was quite surprised.

debaserr 09-13-2014 05:46 PM

Yea, not really close to as good as the original run of Arrested Development.

Altered_Bacon 09-13-2014 07:48 PM

I'm just getting into The Big Bang Theory along with currently watching The Strain and The Walking Dead

I've noticed a lot of things that I miss about the previous seasons of TPB. It's still well done, but it lacks that "i picked up my moms camera to record this" feel. It just seems too crisp and well acted. Not that it wasn't well acted before, but you didn't see them as actors in previous seasons, you saw them as legitimate people living in a trailer park.

GuD 09-16-2014 06:53 PM

So I just finished Hannibal season 1.

Honestly, meh. It's supercheese. BUT. Will Graham's character, while probably not even remotely realistic and morely the product of Hollywood's conveniently revisioned copy of the DSM, is pretty gnar. And Hannibal? The actor, his name I forget, totally nails. Hopefully the second season cuts back on the Robert Downey Jr era Sherlock Holmes-esque gobbledygook and gets more into those two characters because goddamn are all the other ones boring as fvck or are they all boring as fvcking fvck.

Anybody seen Doctor Who. If you have what are your views on the new Doctor.

I personally just can't get used to him. I have a feeling Steven Moffat is going to start unveiling more of the Doctor's past like in the last episode (Listen). I just hope he stays away from that area because I would rather he stay mysterious. On the bright side though I think Clara is becoming my favorite companion. They are really showing us much more of her now. Anyway, your views?

I finished that show last week and it is pretty cool.

It is hard to recommend to my friends though because they watch one episode and get bored. They say it is not funny at all. If only they would keep watching, they would realize that the humor is not the part that shines in this show.

Maron

I'm only 1 episode in and I can already see that i'm going to love the heck out of this show. Watching the Marc Maron comedy special may have been one of the best things i've ever done.

Ive always liked Marc's comedy style he's very introspective and problematic but also very smart.

I haven't seen his show but i listen to his podcast, so far, how is the show? is it like Louie?

His interview with Stewart Lee is great.

I'm currently writing up a long-winded review for my journal. And I know exactly what moment you're talking about.

I wouldn't know since i"ve never watched Louie. But if it's anything like this, i may need to get on that.

Louie is pretty good that's kinda why i asked.

i should've been more clear though, what's the premise of Marc's show? does he play a radio host or something like that?

Marc Maron plays himself as a fictional character and he interviews celebrities for his podcast as well as living his life as a comedian that nobody knows/cares about. Think of like a "Curb Your enthusiasm" sort of thing. Its a bit hard to explain since I'm not too familiar with the genre this falls under.

Louie falls in that genre so i know what you mean.
Sounds like my kinda show, i'll give it a watch.

Definitely do. Its very well done. The comedy is brilliant as well.

Link to my journal review of the pilot episode of Gotham.

Ninetales 09-24-2014 09:51 PM

I donno, I mean I was assuming Gotham wasn't gonna be my bag off the start, but I found the dialogue to be painfully awful. And I didn't really find any of the characters to be particularly interesting. The whole episode seemed rather lame to me. not sure if im going to continue with this.

djchameleon 09-25-2014 07:56 AM

I groaned through that whole episode. I might watch an episode or two more but that's it. The last time they tried a Batman-less Gotham was Birds of Prey and it was just as cheesy. I really don't see Gotham making it. They'll be lucky to get a second season.

Goofle 09-25-2014 08:08 AM

King of the Hill recently. Love it so much.

djchameleon 09-25-2014 08:22 AM

You watch that cartoon willingly? I used use it as an indicator to turn off my tv when I doze off. It was on the tail end of adult swim.

Frownland 09-25-2014 08:26 AM

You're missing out dj.

Key 09-25-2014 09:15 AM

King of the Hill is amazing. I have every episode on DVD.

Well at least your opinion is obviously worthless. I was worried about Gotham for a second, but it's now clearly a work of art.

Black Francis 09-26-2014 11:25 AM

King of the hill is a decent enough show is just the pacing on that show can be kinda boring at times.

ive been marathoning 'Tough crowd with Colin quinn' on youtube.
i Love watching Patrice oneal start sh*t with other comics and watching Nick Dipaolo come up with offensive remarks and be unapologetic about it.

The show is basically loud comedians riffing on each other and trying to make each other laugh :p:

debaserr 09-27-2014 01:16 PM

I watched Tough Crowd all the time when it aired originally. That might be cool to revisit...

On a similar note, I'm a fan of Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee. It's just two people (often comedians) shooting the **** and thinking about stuff.

GuD 09-27-2014 11:06 PM

http://cdn.geekwire.com/wp-content/u...nt-620x420.png

wow

one episode in... obviously I'm a little biased but this is actually a really great show already. It's scary accurate on so many things, esp the anxiety and discomfort which Jeffry Tambor (Poppop from Arrested Development) really captures. And LA people. ****ing LA people. Holy god do they have it down or what on that. Just selfish, vain, stupid characters. Except one of the daughters, Ali, I actually really like her. I hate Sarah.

Great show. Highly recommend. If you have a Prime account with Amazon it's free to watch.
