I may destroy you (2020)

Heard a lot of good things about this one. Two episodes in and it is very impressive. I think this is the first British show I've seen with an all black cast.

Same as it ever was.

Finished Manifest; hopefully it will get either a new season or some sort of ending, as it's impossible to know where it was going at the end of season three, after which it was cancelled, but the story doesn't end there, maybe.

On season two of City On a Hill now. Kevin Bacon is such a bastard in it. Hard-hitting stuff, kind of The Wire in Boston. Good stuff.

I started watching Angel, it starts off pretty dull compared to Buffy imo but it definitely has its moments. Why can Cordelia never catch a break though >: ( She already went through so much **** in Buffy, especially with her relationship with Xander which often just feels like an ex-teenage nerd screenwriter's revenge fantasy on the girls he couldn't get, and now the guy who seems good for her just dies. My disappointment is immeasurable

The Batlord 08-18-2021 03:55 PM

As a bitter teenage boy with no girlfriends I totally identified with Xander (and he got most of the best one liners until Spike and Anya became main characters) but after season 3 when he started working construction he just became more and more this unlikeable dick who served no purpose to the plot. And then you realize that was always the case. Thankfully I have grown into an adult entirely unlike Xander.

The Batlord 08-18-2021 04:03 PM

PS: That episode all about Xander where he's fighting the zombie jocks while everyone else is ignoring him and dealing with an end of the world prophecy you never learn anything about was pure fire though.

And Buffy's on Prime! Now to figure out if I watch season 2, 3, or 4 after Spike gets the chip. Spike becoming main cast is amazing but **** Riley.

Keep watching. Cordelia's story improves. All I'll say.

Also, finished City On a Hill - final season, obviously, given the ending. Pretty much a masterclass in how to quit when you're ahead, have characters sow as they reap and tie everything up tidily but still with a certain sense of nilhilism. Breezed through the eight episodes in two days. Didn't even realise.

I just hope her story improves for her. I know she dies or something eventually :( At least she has a nice roommate, bless phantom Dennis. And I really dig Kate the police woman <3

Season 3 of course, but if you want main cast Spike (which is understandable) why not season 5? Although if you skip the bull**** bits season 4 is almost as great

Watched the two parter in season 4 where Faith wakes up and Jesus is she a good villain. Great character in general but as a villain she has that same chaos agent factor that I love about Angelus where no one knows what to expect and they just have to desperately react to her unpredictability. Easily the best episodes in the season, and I'm including Hush. Now I'm gonna go watch the conclusion in Angel.
