Bored in quarantine so decided to give Veep a shot. 5 episodes in, I dunno, just another zany comedy about the White house. Passes the time I guess. :/

I didn't realise Veep was a comedy. I might try to find it as I have liked most of what Julia L-D has done since her Seinfeld days.

Recently arrived on Netflix, I'm watching some episodes from This Is Pop:-

Kind of patchy (the episode about the history of music festivals doesn't mention Altamont, for example) but quite informative if you don't know much about the topic of the episode you choose.
I can recommend the one about Swedish pop, and I at last understand what that Blur vs Oasis drama was: a storm in the very English teacup that was Britpop.

I also found Veep utterly unfunny. Would recommend another show.

I personally found Veep hilarious, but the main character is easy to hate. Good supporting cast though.

If you're looking for political comedy, maybe The Thick of It or The New Statesman or Yes Minister for British, for American, um, um, um... Spin City?

It's been a while since I've seen it but I second this.

Never thought I'd see a Spin City rec this century.

There's literally nothing else in a political comedy vein (that I've seen and so can recommend) since the 1970s. Weird. Maybe Americans don't like laughing at their politicians as much as we do. Still, where else can you see both Michael J. Fox and Charlie Sheen?

The Batlord 07-25-2021 06:53 PM

I think Americans just see it as a perfunctory thing that has nothing to do with their lives cause its just what rich people do for their own sakes. Spin City never meant anything political to us. Nothing absent is

There was Veep, but I've never watched it.

 You need to go back a page and see where all this started.

Unless you're joking of course.
