A quick rundown, with recommendations (or not) of what I'm currently watching/have watched.

The Passenger - six-part French crime/mystery drama. Very very good but I was disappointed with the ending, which seemed rushed and tacked on. Left open-ended with apparently no sequel (2014 so can assume there will be none) - rating: 8/10 (would have been 9 but for the ending)

Resident Alien - comedy sci-fi - absolutely hilarious; alien comes to Earth to destroy humanity but ends up stranded here, trying to complete his mission and has to try to blend in as the local doctor while trying to get home - while at times quite moving. Renewed for a second series. Rating: 9.5/10

Bates Motel - Horror drama - You probably all know this prequel to the story of Norman Bates, but I ain't seen it before and they just started re-running it so I'm getting into it now. Very good indeed. Current rating stands around 8.5/10 but it might get higher, only on season two at the moment with another three to go.

Just One Look - French crime/mystery. One season, six episodes. Absolutely stunning writing. Great twist right at the very end. Highly recommended. Rating: 10/10

Between the Lines - Non-PC version of Line of Duty, starring your man out of Drop the Dead Donkey. Very dated, very sexist, very realistic. Stories end suddenly and abruptly though and most of them are self-contained, which is a little disorienting. Not bad though. Rating: 7/10

Trapped - Icelandic murder mystery. Very good indeed. Rating: 9.8/10

Bad Banks - German high-finance drama. There are a lot of these out at the moment but this one is pretty good. Rating: 9/10

State of Happiness- Norwegian drama centring around oil families. Norwegian Dallas? No. Very well written and it ends well. Rating: 9/10

Bloodlands - Crime drama set in Northern Ireland. A good story, well written; even the presence of James Nesbitt can't drag it down. Rating: 9/10

On the list but not yet watched

The Syndicate - Third season of the drama following a fictitious group who win the lottery, and how it changes their lives. Enjoyed the first two.

Mare of Easttown - Stars Kate Winslet. Looks interesting. Just started.

Line of Duty season 6 - Crime drama. Can't wait for this to end so I can watch it all in one go.

The Flight Attendant - Mystery/crime. Looks interesting. We'll see. 7 eps to date.

A Suitable Boy - Drama, based on the novel. 6 eps, have not watched any yet.

Darklands - Crime, drama - about an MMA fighter who gets involved in gangland and drugs when his brother goes missing.

Smother - Irish murder mystery. Could be good, could be ****.

Wyonna Earp - Sci-fi/Fantasy. Looks mad. May enjoy this.

The Drowning - Drama centring on a mother who thinks a boy she meets is her son who drowned years ago. Hmm.

Evil - Horror drama - something about a priest solving crimes that have a supernatural/demonic twist? I'm intrigued.

Hausen - German murder mystery. I'm told it's very dark.

A Discovery of Witches - Fantasy/horror drama - Waiting to make time to check this out.

there's a series based on a Suitable Boy?! **** yeah I love that book
I watched the first 2 seasons of Wynonna Earp, it's a kind of demented fun, a bit a Buffy rip off without the deeper emotional layers but with cowboys. If I can bring myself to finish more than one season of a series you can take that as a good sign

oh and not sure if I mentioned this already but I watched Derry Girls and it's amazing

Oh I knew from reading the premise of Wyonna Earp I would not be inviting my brain to the screenings - hell, even the title would tell you that! - so I'm expecting either zany madcap fun a la Vagrant Queen/Van Helsing or a total fail.

Yes I watched Derry Girls all the way through (sounds vaguely creepy doesn't it? Not that anyone would associate Trollheart and creepiness...) and am now anxiously awaiting the new season! Great show.

Just finished the first season of Line of duty. I enjoyed it, although it does seem to flirt with soapiness.

It gets a lot better. And darker. Take nothing for granted.

Okay so about 2-3 months ago I started rewatching Doctor Who. It's one of my favorite shows from when I was growing up. I was a young wee lad when Christopher Eccleston took the role and I watched it religiously with my best friend up until David Tennants finale. Me and my friend lost touch after that for a while but I was on that Matt Smith hype for ages.

I will be honest, the Russel T Davies era holds the most nostalga for me and I loved it as a kid, but what Steven Moffat did for the 11th Doctor was awesome and I still love his portrayel to this day. If anybody is going to get into Doctor Who I would urge you to start with the Matt Smith era. It does devolve into classic Moffat wank ie the sherlock finale. But there's so much classic Who in there to satisfy any fans of the science fiction genre.

Well, just finished Season 2. Great, but complicated. So many red herrings it was virtually impossible to land a believable and satisfying ending. Still, good watch.
