I'm all caught up with Disenchantment. It gets a bit slow at times but it's decent. Eric Andre as a demon works, and Old Man Touchy is friggin hilarious.

I just finished the third season of Star Trek - Discovery (better than the first two seasons), and aside from the fact they have introduced a non-binary AND a trans character (played by non-binary and trans persons, a first for the franchise), but ALSO, in the last couple of episodes there appeared a person in a wheelchair. And I was thinking this character is probably also played by a disabled person, yay representation, and it is true, only thing is, Kenneth Mitchell, the actor who plays Aurelio, actually has ALS. Wow.

Onwards to the 4th season of the Crown!
Not a huge fan of Gillian Anderson's Thatcher (I had no idea she spoke with a British accent?) but this season just might be the best one yet. Coleman is fantastic of course as the queen, but it's Emma Corrin that steals the show as Lady Di.

![]() Also watching Pretend it's a city with Fran Lebowitz. Quite amusing, never heard of her before.

![]() Just finished a dramatisation of The Diary of Anne Frank. Heartbreaking how close they came, but fascinating to see the squabbles and tribulations of a family forced to hide out for two years in basically an attic. Jesus. Also watching second season of Undercover Billionaire. I'm not sure if I like the new franchise- thing, where in season one it was one guy and now it's three different richos? We'll see. Definite required viewing for Hawk. ![]() Other than that: Quiz, a drama based on the birth of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire and the famous heist from same, cough cough, was excellent; the final season of French crime drama Spiral lived up to its promise, with a surprise ending; For Life season one was compelling viewing and ended well with a good lead-in to season two (assuming it's not cancelled, and with 50 Cent involved I guess they wouldn't dare) and Resident Alien is nutso cuckoo comedy gold.

Watched 4 episodes of The queen's gambit and am still trying to figure out what's the attraction. It's certainly watchable, for a show centered on chess. Other than that, I can take it or leave it. Emotional resonance and connection with the characters is close to zero. And we're 4 hours in. :/
Also trying to finish the 6th season of Bojack Horseman but it's become such a drag that I kind of keep postponing watching the last few episodes. Thankfully season 6 of Brookyn Nine-nine dropped and it's as good as ever... ![]()

Basically it feels like Groening's other recent work. Late stage simpsons and futurama revival. There's a little spark of something there but it's buried in such an unfortunate mediocrity. |

Started watching Bates Motel - I know it's old but they restarted it and I always wanted to watch it. Very much enjoying it at the moment. Also watching World on Fire - great World War II adventure series; seven episodes in season one and waiting for season two as I only have two eps to go before this ends. Sean Bean is brilliant as a pacifist whose son and daughter both join up, Arthur Darvill (Rory from Dr Who) just came into it. And rewatching season two of Marley's Ghosts: the beautiful and sexy Sarah Alexander finds the ghosts of her two former lovers want to stay in the house with her. Quite funny, though I just watch it for her really.
Finished The Terror - Ridley Scott directing a Dan Simmons story, what could be better? VERY violent and if you're squeamish watch out: lots of nineteenth-century surgery, ie cutting off limbs with a saw and no anaesthetic, unless you count a wooden bar in the teeth.

Got a free month of Amazon Prime and while I'm using the free shipping for ancient classic books like Xenophon's Anabasis and Herodotus' Histories I've been watching The Boys which is a lot of fun but recently I've started The Marvelous Mrs Maisel which is thoroughly delightful and hilarious.
