Yes. That guy's videos in general are ****ing great time sinks that span a gamut of arbitrary topics that surprise you with how engaging they are. He also has a thirty minute video on the hurdy gurdy that's a fascinating dive into European folk music.

Haven't seen the new one but his 2 hour video on Temple OS and the channel in general are super worth it.

Temple OS was killer. The kind of dive into one person's mental illness that shakes your confidence in human civilization and makes you feel vulnerable. The chess video is honestly the first time the channel has reached the same heights since. This dude's strength as a content creator is definitely in his ability to express his passion over a subject rather than catering his content to a particular fan base.

Somebody Feed Phil

I've watched all but 3 episodes of the entire 4 seasons over the weekend. Really well done, and Phil is an incredibly compassionate person. The way he can make anyone smile is very endearing and warms my heart. It's a shame that the nature of the show is travel and they had to put the kibosh on any future episodes for now. I'm gonna savor these last ones.

Watched far too much (mostly good, some excellent) TV over the last year to write it all here - see my Couch Potato journal soon - but one show that stands head and shoulders above everything was a Belgian series called Ennemi Public (Public Enemy). It's... staggering. Basically a convicted paedophile is released from prison and is given shelter with the monks of the local monastery. This causes outrage in the town, and then kids start to die. But all is not as it seems.

Cannot recommend this highly enough. Without question, some of the greatest writing in drama I have seen in easily five years, maybe more. Here's a trailer - sorry there are no subtitles but you can get the idea I'm sure.

Boy Meets World. Rewatching for the thousandth time on Disney Plus.

The Batlord 11-19-2020 02:48 PM

That's... on Disney+? Not that I'm intrigued or anything of course!

I haven't been in the mood to watch TV at all lately but I loooooved Pen1s on Hulu and watched the new second season recently. The witchcraft episode deserves an emmy. (And I am still watching Vanderpump Rules sporadically. As Werner Herzog said regarding trash tv, "THE POET MUST NOT AVERT HIS EYES" which is what I yell any time someone gives me a Look for watching a reality show about literal unhinged psychopaths) I did also begin watching season 3 of Killing Eve, however I don't have very high hopes due to what I've heard about the writing in that season/the general atmosphere and tone being a poor imitation of the flawless first season + Sandra Oh getting way less screen time for no good reason despite being the other main character.

Season 3 isn't nearly as good, but still worth it imo
