Just recently finished watching The Americans, definitely one of the best shows I've seen.
Then watched Unorthodox on Netflix, which was a bit underwhelming (apart from the main actress who was captivating) and now on Tiger king because I wanna be (semi)current. It is batshit crazy, as promised. The U.S. is an endless source of fascination.

Keith Michell looked the part so much more, although I only remember the "Six Wives" series vaguely. I don't think I saw those other two series, though I do remember going to see this movie, which I imagine you know. If not, I'm sure you'd enjoy it: great acting from Paul Scofield, great insight into one of the key dilemas of Henry's reign

Yes, Lisna, I've seen A Man For All Seasons - several times, in fact. After first viewing the film years ago, I rewatched it over and again because I was so taken by Paul Scofield's perfect performance as Thomas More. The director, Fred Zinnemann, passed over Laurence Olivier in favor of Scofield for that part. And Orson Welles as Wolsey! Great script as well.

Three episodes into my first viewing (iirc) of Cowboy Bebop and it's pretty fire.

You should probably check out Serial Experiments Lain too. Haven't seen it in a decade and a half probably but it's probably up your alley.

I generally detest anime, but Serial Experiments Lain is incredible. A real piece of art, that one.

Got Disney+ just to watch Marvel cartoons and I've been watching X-Men for the last few days. Wolverine and the X-Men is about as meh as I remember back when I dropped it. The storyline is nice and interesting but the character work is bland and it's hard to care about anyone. The OG 90s X-Men cartoon has a bombass theme obviously but the numbskull pacing makes it hard to feel like the narrative is anything but a long trailer and the dialogue is just a collection of one-liners. I want to love it and the nostalgia is real but it's just bad.

But as I expected X-Men: Evolution is by far the standout even if people still sleep on it after all these years. The writing actually feels like I'm watching a narrative and the characters feel like actual people and even if the pacing of the series as a whole is sluggish when it gets going all that time you spent becoming invested in the characters gives the plot a weight you'll never see in any of the other two series.

And it introduced X-23 for ****'s sake.

Have you listened to any of Yoko Kano's other soundtracks?
