He reminds me a bit of the Stan Lee type dialogue from Spiderman comics. It was refreshing coming after the rather stale DC comic stuff.

It was over here Friday night and the worst thing about it? Shot on Digital and it looks piss poor because of that. I really do not understand the reasoning behind this. The subject matter NEEDS to be shot on film and look epic etc

Last series just finished a couple of weeks back but not seen it. A latecomer to Luther but liking it a lot.

anticipation 09-30-2013 04:47 PM

Luther is one of my absolute favorite shows, I cannot believe they offed Justin.

Also, Breaking Bad: what a horrible ****ing ending.

Sansa Stark 09-30-2013 04:56 PM

the stevia thing was so ****ing obvious

Paedantic Basterd 09-30-2013 05:05 PM

My roommate has me watching How I Met Your Mother with her. I haven't grown to like it because it's especially hilarious or witty, I like it because the characters are fucking cute.

EDIT: Oh oh oh, and I'm showing her My Mad Fat Diary in return, and she seems to love Rae dearly, probably because my roomie is best friends with her in real life.

Sansa Stark 09-30-2013 05:11 PM

Yep, it's next. We can only follow so many at once without getting lost or stretching out the stories too far, so we usually pick one comedy and one drama to watch at the same time. The dramz is Mad Fat at the moment (edited abovesies).

Sansa Stark 09-30-2013 05:16 PM

I'm dying for that to come back

I cannot believe you just gave some spoilers away for series 3 which I haven't seen yet.

Every ending to every show ever always has plenty of critics, but I'll just say I completely disagree with you on this one.

It was ok, nothing memorable nothing daring. Pretty straightforward; the bad guys got theirs and the good guys had happy endings (considering the position they were in prior to the finale)

Something like The Sopranos ending was loathed at the time cause of how daring it was, now it'll forever be remembered as one of the greatest endings for having balls. Breaking Bad was just serviceable.

butthead aka 216 10-01-2013 05:01 PM

sopranos > all

maybe it represents a nostalgic time for me or maybe it was just awesome. didnt love that ending at the time tho. gonna borrow my buddies box set and rewatch the entire series again from scratch, im sure i missed episodes over the years

i get nostalgic about the first couple seasons too. my dad and I used to watch it every Sunday night when I was a kid

later seasons were a bit more disappointing but still good

yep i used to spend sundays with my dad and his girlfriend at the time and her two kids who were older and we would always watch sopranos. so the show takes me back to that time when a lot of changes were goin on for me. years later (now) i want to go back and rewatch to maybe have a different perspective that i didnt have then

Apart from the whole spoken language thing that doesn't actually make sense, this looks, feels and appeals on many more levels than another popular show doing the rounds for me personally.

Psychedub Dude 10-05-2013 09:25 AM

I thought Breaking Bads ending was good. They nailed that last few moments perfectly imo. But it all got insane once Walt made it to Jacks yard..

my fave part tho was when
Spoiler for SCIENCE:
You realize that Walts untouchable "hitmen" were Badger and Skinny Pete. Loved it

Cheers to the greatest show ever

Frownland 10-05-2013 09:29 AM

I think that the final episode of Breaking Bad didn't quite stand up to the rest of the season, which I thought was superb. It did go down a predictable route for the most part and I feel like the episode would have been better if it focused on other things apart from setting everything up for the final scene. That being said, I still thought it was a good ending, my main criticism of the finale is that it means no more Breaking Bad.

Goofle 10-05-2013 10:12 AM

Anyone hear the theory that the ending to Breaking Bad was Walter's fantasy?

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/1...n_4037297.html

http://www.uproxx.com/tv/2013/10/nor...-breaking-bad/

Was The 'Breaking Bad' Finale A Fantasy Playing Out In Walter White's Mind?

Norm MacDonald: The 'Breaking Bad' Finale Was Walter White's Fantasy

(obvious spoilers)

That is really interesting, it actually makes a lot of sense. I'm definitely gonna have to re-watch the finale; did not pick up on that at all whoa.

Goofle 10-05-2013 10:49 AM

I'm gonna do the same.

Goofle 10-06-2013 05:20 PM

Definitely wasn't a fantasy ending.

Psychedub Dude 10-07-2013 09:30 PM

Yeah it was a shot in the dark but pretty cool idea regardless. It did give me a reason to dissect the episode better, so there's that.

Also after watching it again part of me kind of wishes the series ended with a shot of Saul Goodman just chilling on a beach somewhere sippin on a beer and he just like winks. Or there should have been at least a scene like that.

anticipation 10-08-2013 09:32 AM

I just thought it had no depth or complexity. It was very straightforward and cut-and-dry but I liked some scenes (Hitmen, Jesse's fantasy scene, the Skyler scene was cool). I admit that while I didn't like it, I don't know what I would have rather had happen. After
Spoiler for spoils:
Hank's death
I kind of lost what I would've liked to have been the resolution but it was a decent-at-best last episode. It would have been hard to top some of the others in this season too, which is another way to rationalize it I suppose.

djchameleon 10-08-2013 10:43 AM

So the show got a pretty predictable ending and left it with the fan service?

That's completely the opposite of what Dexter did and everyone seemed to hate the Dexter series finale for it but I loved the creators for NOT going the predictable route that fans wanted.

I really need to get around to finishing Dexter man, sucks not having Showtime..

And Anticipation, I'm curious as to what you were hoping for the resolution to be.

It's actually BBC America but BBC America originals are pretty good, Copper is excellent.

I'm watching Elementary right now, and I think I actually prefer it to BBC's Sherlock, plus it has Natalie Dormer, who I am totally and irrevocably in love with

Copper is a really well done show. I thought I recognized her name. Shes the pouty faced blonde from a few Elementary episodes. I really like Elementary. Its not overly pretentious and over-acted. Some people can do without Lucy Liu but shes very good in it also.

Sansa Stark 10-10-2013 05:09 PM

She's so hot, she's great in Game of Thrones too. I like Lucy Liu as Watson, I think its awesome that they made a traditionally male character a woman. I also really love Jonny Lee Miller's Sherlock because he's more human and he's kind but also the relationship between them isnt "romantic" at all.

Sansa Stark 10-10-2013 06:27 PM

btw what's everyones favourite Breaking Bad character and ep?

Mine is Gus and my favourite episode is "Salud"

Spoiler for Salud spoilers:
The spiked tequila and all the cartel dropping dead was sooo ****ing good & when Gus goes crazy and breaks out of his totally composed disposition and just screams that the Don Eladio and the cartel is dead & hes like AHHH I WON BITCHES was just so kjdsnfosijfosijfo I'm still heartbroken he had to get killed off because he was a perfect character

I don't know about you, but I like my series finales to be about more than just being non-predictable. There's an execution part of it that needs to satisfy the audience and create some sort of reward. The final answer to the final unanswered question, or at least the semblance of an answer supported by your years of hints. Dexter's end tried to do that in a rushed, haphazard way that required huge assumptions that could never be supported throughout the entire series without making an arbitrary analysis based solely on the final episode. It could have simply been a 1 episode show and it would have made the same logical sense.
To me, it felt like a B- movie condensed into a one-hour TV show. It just didn't connect logically and satisfyingly to the history of the show.

As far as Breaking Bad is concerned, they did better. Maybe the ending could have had a bit more to it, but ends were tied logically and emotionally in that final episode that Dexter never came close to tying, other than superficially. Dexter's final episode was on par with the "wtf was the point of this" quality of The Sopranos' last episode, and that's bad.

Just sayin', there's more to an ending of years of seasons than "Oh sweet! I didn't expect that!"

IMO

There is no fuss. Only greatness. You just really have to be into the whole thing. If you're a Jersey Shore kinda girl, cancel download.
