I just started watching this last night because we just finished learning about the Roman Republic and later the Roman Empire in my European Civilization class. The show does a great job at balancing history with fiction that I've so far been able to differentiate from quite easily. As with any HBO show it's teeming with gory violence and plenty of sex and always, some brilliant writing and acting. I don't know why I slept on this show for so long, it's been on my hard drive for at least a year now, but better late than never.

A friend recommended it to me and I was mildly curious about it.

^^That show isn't funny, it's actually kind of strange.

This show is pretty cool.

Kaimon 11-14-2010 10:44 PM

Seriously? I caught myself laughing quite a bit, which is rare when the show isn't some panel show like QI or 8 out of 10 cats.

And the characters are just so....I dunno, touching and well developed. Anyways, I'm hooked on it. I'll be sad when I get to the point where they switch cast members :(.

So I just started watching Mad Men! Got both season out, here I come TV! Watched the first episode and so far interesting. Love the 50's setting, the gender discriminations and sex appeal.

Just watched the premier and I gotta say, I'm digging it.

AMC is streaming the 1st episode for free here:
The Walking Dead - Video - AMC

Episode 2 airs tonight at 9 central.
:D

Just caught the second episode tonight after recording it Friday night and I'm still not sure about it yet. It's well made and the effects are decent but I am finding it a little predictable at the moment and I haven't really seen anything that set's it apart from the usual Zombie fare.

I was hoping it would bring something a little different to the table but I will persevere. Andrew Lincoln's American accent is pretty good though.

His accent is excellent really. And the second episode was terrible. The third episode was much, much better...stick with it Lee.

I think the second episode was necessary to at least move the plot along, and I've got to admit the part where they coated up in zombie juice was pretty damn awesome. Good to hear I can expect better things to come.

If it's anything like the graphic novels (and it mostly is so far) then it can only get better from here!

jackhammer 11-24-2010 06:20 PM

I just caught the third episode of The Walking Dead and if anything, it is getting worse. There is absolutely nothing new or genre bending and there were so many opportunities in this episode to create tension for the survivors to think about but it just didn't happen.

Instead we have stereotypical characters and a story arc that has already been realised in episode 3, thus robbing us of a tried and cliched (but still watchable) story line.

One more episode and if that doesn't turn aside from it's soap opera roots, then I am turning off.

Top Gear. And nothing but Top Gear. That's the only thing I turn on my television for, except for computergames, which I don't play a lot, so my TV's tend to get really really old. Which is good.
I Watch the news on my PC (whenever I want, not whenever it's broadcasted), Fifth Gear on my PC and "Blik op de weg" (a police chase programme set in the Netherlands, meaning nothing really happens and it's all really sweet and friendly) on the Internet.

So. Top Gear, completely hooked.

NSW 11-24-2010 08:03 PM

I just started watching Top Gear on the recommendation of a friend. That show is amazing, and has some damn funny moments. My fave so far is when they made their own RV's and took them camping. God I laughed so hard.

DoctorSoft 11-26-2010 02:41 AM

I can't believe it took me this long to start watching Weeds. Great show. I'm kind of pissed because I just finished the first two seasons and no stores have it. Neither does Netflix. I might have to buy it online if I get desperate enough.

Just been watching my DVDs again, as theres another Christmas special on the BBC this year. I've watched the three series through again and The Queen of Sheba so far and man, is the latter a good episode. I'm glad they kept making Christmas specials but artistically that would have been the perfect place to stop it.

Same reason I'm watching it. The Humor.
I don't even like fast cars...

Paedantic Basterd 11-28-2010 02:18 PM

Arrested Development is absolute gold. Rewatching it now, actually. It's a shame that Fox never gave it the promotion it deserved.

Also trying to torrent Black Books, off of a friend's rec many moons ago.

Raust 11-29-2010 04:50 PM

I've seen a couple episodes of The Walking Dead. I'm kinda digging it.

FakePlasticKid 11-29-2010 08:15 PM

I'm addicted to walking dead, they really are going into the emotion of it all which is refreshing to someone who has seen probably too many zombies movies for his own good

the 4th episode has been my fav so far I'm so sad that theres only 6 episodes in the first season, i'm gonna go crazy without something to watch on Sundays

I need to go back to watching Rescue Me I sorta dropped off in the second season

Just watched an episode of Sarah Palin's Alaska.

Dead Like Me
Just finished watching this show (it's only two seasons). It was good but not great. Fantastic concept with hit-or-miss execution.

Jekyll
Six part BBC miniseries. I'm only on the second episode but it seems pretty good so far. Unfortunately Paterson Joseph's American accent is so distractingly bad that I'm hoping his character get killed off soon.

It was probably to distract you from noticing him playing the same character in everything he ever appears in.

Either that or it's to distract me from how awful his acting is overall.

That pretty much sums of my feelings of this show, but it was only 30 bucks for both seasons and it gave me something new to watch. I haven't even been arsed to watch the movie yet either.

I watched the movie this morning and it's pretty bad. Definitely not as good as the show. The only redeeming feature really is that Henry Ian Cusick (from Lost) is in it.

I looked through the last five pages and there appear to be no Dexter fans :-(

I'm pretty sure I've posted about Dexter in this thread before.

Frankie Boyle

I am watching but unsure whether I am enjoying. Certainly the most risque show put out on British T.V for a long time but the humour treads a thin line between puerile and genius subversiveness.

Definitely offensive.

I like it. I'm also impressed with some of the music that's played during the show. Easily the best for an MTV show. And Elizabeth Lee is absolutely gorgeous.

Paedantic Basterd 12-28-2010 05:32 PM

I loved the idea of Dead Like Me, and it could have been a bit better, but ultimately there was too much friction between the writers and the network, and it collapsed after two seasons. I refuse to watch the movie.

After a 24 hour marathon (which I only watched about 5 hours worth) I have come to the conclusion that Bruce Campbell/Same Axe is the ****.

Anybody else watching this? I hadn't seen it until last night but have watched all six (i think) episodes that have aired so far now. Fans of Arrested Developement will be happy to see David Cross and Will Arnett back on screen together and fans of The Inbetweeners will recognise Blake Harrison. Add Spike Jonze and even a guest appearance from snooker player Steve Davis and you have one of the more unpredictable casts I have ever seen. I guess thats what happens when you have an American (Cross) and English (Shaun Pye) writing team and set the show in London.

Antonio 01-06-2011 09:45 AM

The Simpsons
Law & Order: SVU (SVU's the only one that keeps me interested tbh)
House
Mythbusters

really, anything on Discovery, FX, or USA

Bloozcrooz 01-06-2011 09:50 AM

The history channel raises my eyebrow a lot. Never have been much on citcoms. I did for some reason always like Everbody Loves Raymond when it was on. For the most part I leave it on NFL network or ESPN. Whenever im not watching actual games. The occasional good movie when one comes on a movie channel. Miss the old days when MTV use to show unplugged sets of different artists.

Started watching it with my GF a couple of days ago, watched about 5 in a row. It's great, so far. Good Story being set up, and lots of eye candy ;)

Man I love V mainly for the fact that Supergirl from Smallville is in it but Anna is pretty smoking also.

I'm waiting impatiently for The Cape to get started up this Sunday.

i watched all of last season and the new one just stared so far so good....i'm glad they are sticking with the absolute cheese of the original series....nothing better than cute lizard women beating the shit out of people....and the fact that they brought back the original queen bitch to play Anna's mother....

i also just started watching
http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4067/...9eb4d55f65.jpg

so far it's hilarious....watching some crazy lady pour half a large bottle of pepper-corns into basically half assed scramble eggs and she called it quiche
