It gets better season 2 and even more in season 3. I'm on four now which started off rocky for me but now developing well. I've missed 3 episodes of it though so I will catch up later.

This show is actually pretty great and Erin Karpluk is one of the prettiest girls I have ever seen.

I caught that show once or twice and I enjoyed it. I hear that they are making an american remake of it.

And a British one, apparently.
I don't often see the need for remakes. All this talk of remakes is only making me think that I missed something good, and therefore should probably watch the original. |

Been watching Marcel's Quantum Kitchen lately and its rather enjoyable to see his creations in general and the work that goes into making obscure cuisine.

I don't really see the need for remakes either. I sometimes still associate the remaking of a show with lack of originality and new ideas. Like when they brought back Hawaii Five-O. They seriously couldn't think up a new idea so they had to dig up one that is 40 years old?

I know that sometimes remakes can be very successful and very good shows in their own right, and I know that sometimes a director or a writer will take a particularly old show or film and attempt to bring it into the modern day. These are often flawed, and you could argue that it is unnecessary, that's fine. I do however feel there is a challenge involved there though, artistically.
I think what I really dislike more than anything though, is when a show is made and becomes popular and almost the automatic response for foreign networks is to make their own version of it. Are we really so unable to embrace another culture that we can't just watch the original series, but rather we have to have a version remade for our own culture and our own audience? |

I felt that way when they decide to do a US remake of Life On Mars. Granted they did a beautiful job and I love both shows for different reasons but I don't get why they just couldn't re-air the British one for US Audiences.

I have tried to avoid finding out about the American remake of Life on Mars, as I have never seen it. I think I know what happens, unfortunately, but can't be sure.
If what I have heard is correct, then they missed the point of the original entirely. However, if it stands on it's own, then fair enough. If it stands on it's own though, of course, then I don't quite see the need to "remake" the show. I don't know. |
