I'm re-watching seasons one and two of Breaking Bad and then watching seasons three and four which I haven't seen any of. I'm excited.

I really need to start watching that show. Everybody raves about it.

Mojo 05-24-2013 03:46 AM

I've seen up to the second episode of season five, which I then decided to leave as I would have had to wait way too long for the next season, which is due in August.

I look forward to watching it, and using it to build up the new episodes, as each season has gotten better in my opinion.

I use to watch this show with my mum when I was younger, but there was a lot of it I just didn't get (both due to my age and my unfamiliarity with the British references), but I still really enjoyed it. I don't think I started watching from the beginning though, and I really can't think of where it was when I started watching it.

Mojo 05-26-2013 03:36 PM

Red Dwarf was a brilliant show. Also Red Dwarf X, the most recent series, also happened to be brilliant which made me very happy.

Come on then. For those who have watched it, or are currently watching it, what do you think? Discussion is fine, but no spoilers.

I'm catching up by re-watching the third season before I just into the new episodes. I'm sure I'll be commenting soon though.

debaserr 05-26-2013 06:58 PM

I have been binge watching, gonna finish tonight. I have loved watching them, but I don't think I could give an accurate rating on how I will like it a month from now. There have certainly been some great parts though, and I will commence a second viewing directly after I finish.

Goofle 05-26-2013 07:08 PM

Starting my binge tonight.

Mojo 05-26-2013 07:14 PM

Thats exactly how I feel about it. I'll be putting off passing judgement until at least a second view because initial reaction has been somewhat mixed, but mostly good.

I'm thinking the reason it may be mixed is because the format of the new episodes took some getting used to. I have been enjoying the season as a whole more and more as it has progressed.

I think the format (with each episode mainly focusing on one character at a time) has its good points and bad points. I don't understand why some characters have more than one episode while others feel neglected. I don't understand why a couple of episodes don't seem to adopt the format at all, leaving the season feeling a little disjointed. I do however think that it has allowed each characters story, and all the other arcs throughout, to overlap and intertwine very well and I think it's brilliantly written in many ways.

It's a mixed bag. I'm hoping that I can watch it for a second time and, obviously not being surprised by anything, appreciate it even more and realise that all the little negatives aren't really negatives after all.

I finished my Arrested Development binge... I liked it for the most part, but I felt it took a few episodes for it to pick up, probably the first Tobias episode was when I really got into it. I think my favorite episode was the 2nd GOB episode, I think it ranks up there with the best from the original seasons.

And that ending... yeah

Paedantic Basterd 05-27-2013 04:11 PM

Has everybody heard that Dan Harmon has been asked to return to Community? Whether he will or not is still up in the air, but THERE IS HOPE.

debaserr 05-27-2013 04:18 PM

Source? I've heard rumors but that is it.

On Arrested Development: New stuff is good but I think the new format keeps it from the frenetic brilliance of the original. If they do more I hope they return to the old format. It makes sense that they would, it was a cost cutting move to keep the cast budget down.

I feel optimistic about more being made, but I guess I should wait until I hear some actual data on the release.

Freebase Dali 05-27-2013 04:21 PM

Arrested Development.
Hannibal.
Game of Thrones.
Mad Men.
Loiter Squad.

When the hell is the next season of Venture Bros coming out? It was supposed to be years ago.

debaserr 05-27-2013 04:22 PM

Judging from the rest of your list I have to check out Venture Bros / Loiter Squad.

Paedantic Basterd 05-27-2013 04:24 PM

Source is Dan Harmon's podcast.

debaserr 05-27-2013 04:24 PM

O FUCK

He better do it.

Paedantic Basterd 05-27-2013 04:26 PM

I hope to high hell he does, or I'm done with it, because I can't, CANNOT watch another season like 04.

debaserr 05-27-2013 04:26 PM

I know, it was like a cruel joke NBC played on their fans. At least they are owning up to the mistake.

It had all the creepiness of the original with like 10% the jokes. And all the characters suddenly became bastardized versions of themselves.

It's easy to be humble when it earns you cash.

If the new season of AD is, as Hurwitz has claimed it will be, "act one" and a lead-in to a film, then I think it will stand up against the others retrospectively. If this film never happens, however, and they don't do any more episodes, then I think they could have done more with it.

debaserr 05-27-2013 04:34 PM

I'd prefer they just make more episodes. You get way more footage that way :D.

After all of my bitching, it's probably the funniest thing I will see from 2013.

Mojo 05-27-2013 04:36 PM

I'd happily take more episodes too, but I just get this feeling that they will never completely get the entire cast together at the same time. They didn't quite manage it this time, which could have played a factor in why the format was very different. If they ever do, I guess it would make sense if they made a film to end it.

Venture Bros is the best Adult Swim there ever was.

I'm new to Loiter Squad, but I enjoy it. Totally random. Stoner sh*t, really.

debaserr 05-27-2013 04:58 PM

I've been looking to get into some toons, so this will be cool. I've never been huge into cartoons / comics and I've been meaning to explore it some. I was huge into Nicktoons, but other than that just the usual South Park, FOX, and some Aqua Teen (forgetting some I'm sure).

Venture Bros is great toonage if you like a storyline, mature humor, and great characters.

If you like wacky toons, check into Harvey Birdman.

As far as Loiter Squad, that's just Tyler the Creator and his friends basically doing stupid sh*t like a black version of Jackass but far more random.

Yep, season 3 is even funnier, and there's like 23 or 24 episodes too.

Going through the first season again, I just had to say that the Modern Warfare episode of Community has to be my favourite thing ever written and filmed.

ThePhanastasio 05-29-2013 11:28 PM

My fifteen year old sister and I, bored and with nothing on television, tuned into the Soap network to make fun of it. Several weeks later, we are watching every single episode of Days of Our Lives and General Hospital, without fail.

GH is the more interesting of the two, but Days is quite dramatic. GH, though, has more ridiculous faked deaths, twins, vampires (I don't even know), and cryogenic freezing than anything I've ever seen in my life.

Blarobbarg 05-29-2013 11:44 PM

I am slowly but surely becoming obsessed with The Boondocks. I already really enjoyed the comics, but with what seems like every episode of the show on Youtube for free, it's really hard to not spend every waking free minute watching.

I've recently become acquainted with The Boondocks myself and just finished the first season. It's definitely become one of my favourite animated shows, it's ****ing hilarious. Never read the comic strips, but I plan to.

The first season is absolutely amazing. One of the best seasons ever written.

debaserr 05-30-2013 09:06 AM

My favorite could be the Halloween episode season 3. The troy/abed/pierce story is amazing.
