Red Dwarf XI I just started this but I enjoyed the first episode. It really goes out of its way to stay faithful to the older episodes in terms of setup, delivery, and format. Hell, it even looks like it was filmed on the budget of the old shows, or at least Series 7 and 8 when they began to incorporate more CGI. |

Belter of a documentary on C4 right now. Walking The Americas.
Vowels you would like it, I'll try to find you a link. It's some English guy walking from Mexico to Colombia. The Americas = best place on Earth imo. For this stuff anyway. |

Has anyone any thoughts on the new 24? I kind of wonder how it's going to fare without either Jack or Chloe, a whole new cast? I mean, I'll watch, but I don't feel it's going to be the same... I hope I'm wrong of course. Also, has anyone watched The Bastard Executioner? Done by Kurt Sutter, who brought you Sons of Anarchy of course. Cancelled already but it looks very good, gritty stuff.

I thought I mentioned it and then he decided to watch it after I said I was watching the new season.
I'm glad Jack and Chloe are gone. I'm more interested in it now that there is a whole new cast. I barely watched the little return thing they had like a year or two ago.

The second episode, "Samsara", is more of a return to form, it actually did that bit from "Balance of Power" where the scene transformed from flashback to present day. It kind of feels like a "Greatest Hits" but of new material if that makes sense, like each new episode reminded me of older episodes but changed in such a way as to still sort of be a new idea. Not the best, but definitely on par with Series X and miles better than Series VIII and that godawful Back to Earth mini-series.
Anyways, I've spent the last two days binging the entirety of The Ricky Gervais Show and holy shit it may be one of the funniest things I've watched/listened to in awhile. Karl Pilkington is my favorite kind of idiot because he's always willing to share his opinion with complete sincerity regardless of how retarded or poorly worded it is, and defend it. His bit on the "ultimate animal" having the body of an armadillo (for protection), the head of an owl (because people like owls), and the slime of a snail or slug (so people can't kick it over), had me in stitches I was laughing so hard. |

Dude, exactly the same and exactly the same time frame (just discovered it in the last two days). I love how the other dude just kind of laughs at how dumb Karl is, but Ricky seems to have a genuine appreciation for Karl's unintentional comic genius.

Serendipity is a peculiar mistress. I think Ricky's appreciation stems from having somebody to work off of who's so thick he doesn't seem to know if and when he's the butt of the joke. I think half the humor arises from trying to figure out if Karl is playing the idiot, if he's an idiot savant, or if he's just plain stupid.
