I'll take an ******* with a heart of gold. I'm a sucker for hearts of gold. But people who are just straight up dicks, no, I can't relate to that in any sort of meaningful way.

And you say this is a common problem for you? I see the former a lot more than the latter (then again I don't keep on top of TV like some do).

The relatability issue and the "TV jumping the shark" problem are separate issues in my experience of TV.

Claire from House Of Cards is stunning the second time around. Don't know why I passed her off as bland and forgettable, she is so ****ing ruthless, at times more than Francis. And it's scary because she actually shows a lot more compassion for the people she screws. And Doug is exceptional, especially at the start of Season 3. You almost feel sorry for him, him being loyal to Frank and being treated, in my opinion, pretty unfairly. And his resilience baffles me. He doesn't like to appear weak at all, and the first few episodes show us his toughness. I can't tell who is more cold and ruthless in the show, but I love how they're all portrayed.

Uhg, it's bad enough that I only understand 50% of U.S. politics; if I watch the British one I'll understand 20% of what's going on.

was never huge into house of cards either. got through the first season and enjoyed it enough I guess but never had the urge to keep up with it.

I will say I would put suits in that "comedy" tv show grouping where I enjoy watching it without really giving a shit about an overall story. its the same rehashed stuff from season to season but I can put any episode on really and dig it for what it is
