True. Apart from the first few episodes (or maybe just the very first one, I can't quite remember) they are two entirely different shows. They had to be.
The original only ran for about 12 episodes and the specials. That allowed it to keep quite an authentic feel. It was like a real documentary in the sense that you knew you were only watching edited moments of the characters lives. And the backbone of it was the romantic interest between Tim and Dawn, which spanned the entire length of the series. The American one has made about 150 episodes now. They can't do that, so they have to make it something very different. It's good though. |

The first series of the US version used the same script and stories, just adapted slightly for the American audience (changing a few words here and there so they are relevant to a different audience). I think some of series 2 may have been similar as well, but the majority of series 2 was original.

Right. I do seem to remember the odd scene here and there that was very similarly scripted. The first episode was the exact same script though, wasn't it? I could be slightly wrong, it's a while since I watched the very first series now.

I dont think it was exactly the same, no. Didnt Ryan feature in episode 1 of the US version, whereas Ricky the temp only joined about halfway through the UK version? I cant actually remember clearly, and didnt enjoy series 1 of the US version enough to want to re watch it all and find out lol.
Wikipedia's episode guide of series 1 seems to bear no resemblance to the UK version at all in fact; The Office (U.S. season 1) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia |

I've started watching Castle recently. I usually hate (HATE! HATE! HATE!)cop dramas, but this one has Nathan Fillion being Nathan Fillion as only Nathan Fillion can be. So it is awesome.
Don't mention the war.
