I recommend rewatching it and seeing the second season as well. The Mr. Meseeks episode is my favourite just because of the genius character design of Mr. Meseeks, but the second season is definitely the stronger of the two.

Same, I just recently got into it. It's kind of funny that when I was in Barnes & Nobles two weeks back. I saw a sci-fi book titled The United States of Japan that I bet has a similar premise.
