Don't be surprised if Pam becomes your favorite character by the end of the season.

Dexter's monologues are so fucking corny.

Update on Awake. Just finished watching it. I admit, it is a mess sometimes but I enjoyed it very much. The wikipedia page says it was too complicated for an average American viewer... which is pity, I think it had a great potential for follow-ups. There was even a campaign "Save Awake" on Facebook. Too bad I don't have an account and it is over anyway.

Supernatural
Back in 2005 when this show first aired I was going through a big X-Files thing, which was fortunate because a local channel started sydicating the episodes in order, and I caught the first one. When I heard that Supernatural had some of the same writers and was filmed in Vancouver I was intrigued. While the first season had some pretty hit-or-miss episodes and a pretty standard formula, the chemistry between the two leads was solid and it's not like there was much else for paranormal drama shows at the time so I continued watching it. Second season upped the ante and fixed a lot of the problems in the first and did a good job on expanding the world. Season three was the most consistent and had some really cool episodes, but it was Season four that really exalted the show and mythology. Season five was pretty epic as it had Sam and Dean Winchester fighting Lucifer so the stakes were stacked about as high as they could go and everything was leading up to a satisfying ending that would cement the show's cult status. We didn't get that, and instead the show's rising popularity during the 3rd and 4th season and the lead actors' contracts having a clause for a 6th season, led to a rather bizarre season that reminded me so much of The X-Files' sixth season after they left Vancouver and changed the tone of the show, downplaying the mythology and world building for more "Monster of the Week" episodes. It makes sense from a production standpoint because they're relatively easy to write and pad out a season as you try to cobble together a cohesive story arc. While it exceeded my expectations, last year's 7th season was a complete disaster that was just so baffling stupid that I stopped watching. After much insistence from my mother and other people's opinions I sometimes pretend to respect, I gave the 8th season a chance, and by god has it ever redeemed the awkward 6th and 7th seasons and has actually made me intrigued for the first time since 2009. They have an ultimate goal, that if achieved, will effectively end the show for the most part, and it seems like they're going to go for it rather than milk it dry(er). They've really managed to fix the previous problem of bringing in new characters, and then just putting them in this cryo-stasis until Sam and Dean need them, instead opting to show their lives and how they deal with a world full of demons and monsters. It also seems they're expanding this comedic relief character into something more than a "Watson". Overall I'm actually excided for a show I've been watching and-and-off for 8 years now, and that's kind of cool. |
American Horror Story.
Blew through season one in just a few nights; no small feat considering my horrible work schedule. It's very good, but not quite the brilliance I'd hoped for based on my friend's emphatic demands I watch it. Jessica Lange makes the show. The fellow who plays Tate is good, but Jessica Lange as Constance is the soul of season one. She's absolutely brilliant. The show gets corny upon occasion, a few of the "twists" are easy to see coming, but it's ultimately enjoyable and worth watching. And again: Jesus Christ, Jessica Lange is fantastic in this show. Research last night showed me that she's earned an Emmy and a Golden Globe for her performance as Constance, and all I can say is that it's well-deserved. She made a horrible, disgusting human being hold some shreds of humanity, have some manner of compassion and present herself as a full, well-rounded human being. VERY few people could have pulled that off as well as Ms. Lange did. |

The presentation of the story is pretty neat and bounces all over which is good because it quickly doesnt make that much sense if you think about it for too long. The maid in young form is a sexy senorita |
The only reason I have any interest in American Horror Story is the sister of that shrink from The Departed (Tarissa Farmiga, they were born like 20y apart or something).
Having said that, I haven't seen any of it. http://i.imgur.com/9vtOf.jpg |
She kind of reminds me of Angela's best friend from My So-Called Life.

God I love Underbelly! Wish there was a clip, but there isn't, so listen up:
Girl decides to go on the game but she's seriously innocent of such things. Gets her first John and he drops his pants, lies back on the bed and says "Just a blow job will do love". She crouches down, shrugs and starts blowing at his dick like it was a candle!! He looks at her says "What the hell are you doing??" and she says "Er, a blow job, right?" I nearly PMSL!!!! :D:D:D |

Series 2, "The Golden Mile". I'm delighted: I thought it ended on season 1! |
Quote:
I think there are two more after that one. Underbelly: Badness but I don't know the next one. The Golden Mile is so familiar to me since Kings Cross hasn't changed much. I just came from living there actually. |
Wow that's so cool. Is it really (was it really) like that? I can't believe how one hundred percent corrupt the cops were. EVERYONE had his or her hand in the till! You wouldn't want to be expecting them to help you would you, unless you had a pile of cash! Don't tell me, but I hope they all got jailed in the end. Terrible shower.

But anyway, I think The Golden Mile does a good job portraying that. |
Just started Homeland, really liking it so far.

Saxondale -it's a grower!

I started (and finished) Homeland Season 1 yesterday, and am going to watch the second tomorrow. In the meantime I have also been watching Breaking Bad, which I have just started, and, I must say, one of the greatest shows I've seen in recent memory.
|
I just downloaded both seasons of Mrs Brown's Boys. So deliciously funny.

Just found out I can use Amazon Instant Video on my Xbox 360 so I'm getting caught up with this season's Walking Dead.

Being Human (UK) Just finished Season 4. I just knew there was no way this season was going to be as good as the first three...I mean, what about that Season 3 finale!? But it's still keeping up, even with the change in cast. I can't get enough of this show. Annie is so corny and chirpy you can't help but love her. And Tom needs a big hug at the end of every episode. |

I remember seeing the commercials for this show around thought it was going to be a show in the same mood and context as Dark Shadows so I never paid attention to it. I regret that. I love the show. I'm two episodes away from the season one finale and am pissed I have work in the morning and will have to finish it tomorrow night. It's not a perfect show by any means but there are just too many good story lines that it's okay to ignore that average ones. I personally think the relationship between Tate and Violet is wonderfully written and I've enjoyed watching it. It'll be a show I'll revisit again. Can't wait to start season two. |
Netflix keeps on recommending this show to me and I know one of my roommates is a big fan so maybe I'll start watching it with them.
|
It looks like i've got a show to start watching next month:
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...ardsposter.jpg They showed a preview on Netflix. It looks pretty good. |

Boardwalk Empire Season 3 Got my HBO GO account going so I can get caught up on what I've missed since this started back up in September. |
I've just finished Suits and Spartacus. Both very good and I highly recommend them. I've also been watching The Mentalist, on and off, for the last 2 months.
|
This is all I know about The Mentalist and I'm so grateful that's the way it is.
|
Hahaha, that IS pretty funny. I do find it a good show, nonetheless :P

"Arrested Development" confirmed to return in May - CBS News
It's finally coming back! In May, which is a relief since I'd been hearing rumours of December. |
Yipppppeeeeeeee

I hope that on whatever date it premieres, we get it the very same day over here.
http://img.dooyoo.co.uk/GB_EN/orig/0/6/8/6/1/686127.jpg Jonathan Creek originally started in 1997 and ran until 2004, bar a couple of one-off specials afterwards, and is about a man who works as a creative consultant for a magician and lends his talents and knowledge of illusionism to tackling particularly baffling crimes and murders. Generally crimes or murders with seemingly no logical explanation. I watched at least the first two series at the time and enjoyed it but havent seen it since. I also wasn't entirely sure what to expect, as I felt that I could well have a very different opinion going back and watching it now. it's still good though. It's a little silly and a little over-the-top in places. It also adopts the cliche murder-mystery "Oh darn, you got me!" formula when he simply offers a theory and the culprit spills their guts. It is however just very enjoyable and some of the plotlines, as far fetched as they may be, are interesting. Looking forward to the new special for 2013 that the BBC have recently announced. |

How is American Horror Story? Just for my info.
|
I've been watching some random x-files episodes lately and loving it.
I'm so glad that Girls and House of Lies is back. The characters in House of Lies are such douchebags but they pull it off so well. Don Cheadle won some award for it as well. Doug and Clyde are definitely my favorites. |

Apart from The Wire this is absolutely amazing. I was a skeptic for a couple of years but so glad I got into it. For a show about guys on motorbikes it is one of the most densely plotted and visceral shows I have seen and there is a scene in season 2 that broke my heart. No vids as it will spoil it all! |

It's a great series but something about Jax puts me off. Otherwise, great storyline and character writing. Worth watching.

The second season, however... WAY better. If you decide to watch it, don't even bother with the first season. The first and second season aren't related anyway. I'd recommend watching the second when you have time. Jessica Lange is amazing in it. |
