Is anyone watching Preacher? I'm really enjoying it and I appreciate that it's different enough (actually some character backstories a lot) from the comics that it might as well be a prequel. Last week's episode especially had that crazy quirky comic vibe.
I'm also watching Outcast, another comic based series (although I don't read it) It's ok for now, kinda drags. Some shows I would've enjoyed better binge watching. I've finished recently the second season of 12 Monkeys. I love time travel and this gets crazier and crazier. Honestly, I think I like this more than the movie. Penny Dreadful was going strong for two and a half season, and it ended with a whimper. Such a shame. EDIT: ooh, Stranger Things...How come I didn't hear about that? 80s like sci-fi? That sounds right up my alley

I'm excited to be watching a criminally-overlooked miniseries, 1990 (billed as "Nineteen Eighty-Four Plus Six" in reference to its parallels to the George Orwell novel and to the man-vs-societal struggle of Number Six in the BBC cult classic, The Prisoner). Filmed in 1977, the series explores the near-future of 1990 where England has become a bureaucratic totalitarian state.
The program went largely unnoticed, having been unfortunately scheduled in the same time slot as Secret Army on BBC1 and has never been released on DVD. Still, you can find it online and I'm eager to check it out this evening. Quote:
I enjoyed the pilot but thought the main plot point was a bit too transparent to justify an entire series. Still, the socio-cultural subject matter is really up my alley, so if more episodes focus on the societal and economic impact of the central character's anarchic efforts then I'd be willing to give it a shot. I just find any series' attempt to make characters relatable through personal subplots a bit dull and contrived. Do you (and any other members who've seen the series) think a pretentious knob like myself might enjoy it?

I didn't even watch the third season yet but I have heard disappointing things about it. It is still on my to watch list. I did enjoy the first two seasons though.

That was a crazy scene. I think DeBlanc and Fiore are my new favorite clueless angels (sorry Castiel). One of the improvements of the show.
For those interested, I ran into some theory, crazy enough that it just might turn out to be true. It would be kind of awesome. Spoiler for theory - reddit link:
It started good and reached the highest high with one bottle episode, the kind this show especially excels at, but this one was really something. And then it was all down from there. I heard the show was cancelled (not sure how abruptly) and that's why they rushed it in the end.

Watched five hour long episodes of The Seventies last night on CNN.
1. Terrorism 2. Serial Killers and Cults 3. Television 4. Music 5. Sexual Liberation Man, I'd forgotten just how messed up but culturally important that decade was.
