It seems like they went straight off the story boards without bothering with anything like plot and character development or continuity. Not sure I'll even bother starting series 3.

It actually gets worse.

Wasn't that right when the Writer's Guild Strike was going on?

One or the other, Heroes sucked ass after the first season. But I'm still glad I own the first season on DVD.

I don't mind tv shows straying from their source material. They are operating in two different mediums so they need room to stretch and express themselves. I was never the type of fan to hate a movie because it wasn't like the book or they left things out that were in the book. OF COURSE they left things out that were in the book. They would end up with a five hour movie if that was the case.
yeah, i don't mind tv shows/movies not portraying the source material panel-for-panel (or page-for-page, whatever), especially if they end up being better than the groundwork used. it's nice to be surprised with original content, and sometimes plots from the source need touch ups (for whatever reason), but nods to the source or actual use of the source are nice, too.

i didn't mean to come across as some source material elitist with lucifier. it was decent (or good) for what it was. it didn't pander to fans of the comic series because it wasn't obligated to, just like no tv show or movie based on a (comic) book is ever obligated to. i wasn't into the direction the tv series took compared to the comic, though, so i probably won't check in for the second season.

i've definitely enjoyed shows and movies that didn't stick to the source material or stuff i never read the source of at all, but if an adaptation turns out to be bad, there's usually wonder how much better it could have been if it stuck more closely to what it was based on (assuming the viewer's familiar with it).

like with the constantine movie from 2005, one of the biggest complaints from hellblazer fans was that it was just an overall bad adaptation. not that it was a good movie either way, but it would have probably faired better being promoted as an independent story than being prefaced with the hype that it was based on the comic series. i'd guess the hellblazer fans would be more okay with that movie existing and being so different from the comics if it had turned out better.

the preacher tv series, so far, is a nice mix of original content and fan service for the comic readers.

recently started this, too, after having it on a to-watch list for years. probably annoyed the person who hassled me to watch by sending them snaps of tony with the flower crown filter for about two episodes straight

Can we just agree that Netflix is the only true comic TV series destination with Daredevil and Jessica Jones?
