Finally. I know I'm way late to this party. I started season 1 yesterday and am already on the second episode of season 2. I guess you could say I'm enjoying it. I don't know what I had expected but I think I had a feeling that it would be a little more...comical. It has its funny moments but some of it is way more dark than I had thought it was gonna be.

Just keep watching. The story development is amazing.

Mojo 08-14-2012 10:09 AM

I'm coming across some very, very funny episodes now. It still hasn't been what I was expecting, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. Just an observation.

Yeah, if I remember any of season 2 I think I know what you're talking about. Season 3 and the rest afterwards get better and better as well. So i'm just throwing it out there that you will not be disappointed.

FRED HALE SR. 08-17-2012 12:59 PM

I just dvr'd the entire first season of Freaks and Geeks, gonna re-watch it all. The disco episode was a personal favorite.

Goofle 08-17-2012 01:35 PM

Watching Brass Eye for the first time now. Flying start to the first episode.

[MERIT] 08-17-2012 09:04 PM

Love me some Lockup on MSNBC.

cozypowellsdrumkit 08-18-2012 10:15 PM

XIII, Perception, Family Guy, Robot Chicken, Aqua Whatever(Was Aqua Teen Hunger Force)
Squidbillies. Stuff like that. That dude in Perception reminds me of me. :D

cozypowellsdrumkit 08-18-2012 10:26 PM

I forgot to add Call of the Wildman on Animal Planet and Storage Wars on A&E

Freebase Dali 08-19-2012 02:30 PM

I just started on the third season of Louie (Starring, produced and directed by Louis CK).
It's an awesome and hilarious show that's primarily about Louis' actual life. If you enjoy Louis CK and mature and slightly disgusting, sad comedy... you must watch.

All the seasons and episodes can be streamed free here:

Just finished Luther on Netflix. I want more. Now. GIVE ME MORE. Sure there are some holes in the writing but the acting is always fantastic and the action is gripping and suspenseful. Plus there are plenty of really twisted "villains". Great series.

I'm going through Peepshow and Wilfred right now. Enjoying both thoroughly. Bummed out about finishing Black Books. M0ar! m0ar!!!!

I love his stand up but I haven't found that show all that funny. It reminds me a lot of Curb Your Enthusiasm, which I also don't find particularly funny.

Mojo 08-20-2012 12:40 PM

I've seen the first season of Louie and I liked it. I wasnt bowled over by it but it was good and I plan on starting on season 2 now it's been added to Netflix.

It reminds me a little of Curb Your Enthusiasm too, but the difference is that I think Curb is one of the finest sitcoms I've ever seen.

Paedantic Basterd 08-20-2012 12:41 PM

I've just started Scrubs. Dr. Cox is my personal hero. I aspire to be that sarcastic.

Mojo 08-20-2012 12:51 PM

Enjoy it while it lasts. The last few seasons were pretty awful.

I used to adore that show though and the first 4 (5 at a push) seasons are fantastic still. It is no surprise to me at all that you would love Dr. Cox.

Paedantic Basterd 08-20-2012 12:53 PM

He's the baklava of sarcasm.

I think "baklava of sarcasm" is my new favorite phrase.

Trollheart 08-20-2012 01:40 PM

As someone recommended, "Revenge" has turned out to be one of my favourite shows. I can't get enough of it. Luckily our local channel is cool enough to screen 2 episodes a week, but still, have to let it build up then pig out.

Also tempted to go for season 7 of "Supernatural", which just started, but I have seasons 3-6 still to watch on the PC, so better not. It's a pain though, avoiding those spoilers-that-shouldn't-be-spoilers-if-you're-up-to-date!

Just caught an ep of "The IT crowd" and it wasn't terrible, so may give it a shot. Or not. Wish there was some "Apprentice" on somewhere: "The Angel" just doesn't cut it really...

Enjoying reruns of "Minder" on Irish TV late at night, but still so many shows recorded that I have to check out. Here's a list; anyone cares to comment on whether the show is good/bad/indifferent, fire away.

Alcatraz
Mad men (decided to try this out when they went back to the start, haven't watched an ep yet!)
Grimm
The Newsroom (I know I'll like this, it's Sorkin after all. Just haven't made time for it yet)
Unforgettable
Being human
Lost girl
The killing (saw season 1)
Teen Wolf
Sinbad
Fairly legal (season 2, enjoyed season 1)
The Borgias (ditto)

Coming late to the party for the Sopranos, though I think it's getting near the end now, sadly.

And the Wire? Enjoyed season 1 a whole lot, hated season 2 and lost interest (read, ran out of disk space to keep the recorded episodes) after that.

There are some great Dr. Cox moments from the early days.

"This is that beverage that I've been trying to describe to you and it turns out, and this is gonna sound weird, but the secret is that you grind it from beans...not crap."

"Hey! Have you been here the whole time?"
"No, I just came in through the couch door."

And these two:

Now I want to start Scrubs again.

debaserr 08-20-2012 04:13 PM

Whatever happened to Zach Braff? I thought he was going to be consistently making good movies after I saw Garden State.

Mojo 08-20-2012 04:17 PM

Well, he's still only directed the one.

I once saw a bit of The Last Kiss. It certainly wasn't my decision to watch it but even the lass whose decision it was to make me endure it thought it was garbage. I didn't make it through the entire thing.

He was in an episode of Cougartown awhile back. Hes also gonna be in the new Wizard of Oz movie coming out as a voice actor. Yeah so basically hes gone from the rich house to being homeless.

Ah bummer.
Well, he does stand up in the show as well. I admit that, at first, it was a little dry and ambiguous as far as the feel of the show was concerned, but I guess it's one of those things that I got into and now I laugh at a lot of what goes on during the show. I don't know if it's because the show has gotten better, or I've become acclimated to its particular style.

How much of it have you watched?

debaserr 08-20-2012 06:47 PM

I remember feeling underwhelmed with the first few episodes. It has a unique style, and it doesn't get really good until you are acclimated to it.

GrapevineFires 08-21-2012 06:49 AM

Breaking Bad. Last sever season. Currently airing. Great show. Some good music too.

Mojo 08-23-2012 05:23 PM

Ade Edmonson and Rik Mayall to reunite for six new episodes of Bottom | Mail Online

I nearly **** my pants.

Scarlett O'Hara 08-24-2012 03:44 AM

Breaking Bad is my current obsession, I'm up to season 3 whoop!

Mojo 08-24-2012 06:32 PM

I only recently got into Breaking Bad, as I posted about. I watched the first four seasons and started on the fifth, all in the space of a week and a half. I didnt exactly sleep much.

Scarlett O'Hara 08-24-2012 06:32 PM

Did you enjoy it?

Mojo 08-24-2012 06:38 PM

No, it was shit. Thats why I watched over four whole seasons in a week, just to get them the hell out of the way.

:)

For some reason, it's a pet peave of mine that Brits call seasons "series". Get with it and join the rest of civilization (i.e. 'Merica).

Urban Hat€monger ? 08-25-2012 09:35 AM

If a series is a season then what is a serial?

Some pansy British thing I would imagine. :p:

Urban Hat€monger ? 08-25-2012 09:38 AM

I'll call an American series a season, but when it comes to British shows it's either a series or serial.

But seriously, is there a difference between the two, or is it just one o' those things?

Urban Hat€monger ? 08-25-2012 10:03 AM

Usually in the British TV industry a series is something that lasts a season and a serial is maybe a movie length one off standalone drama or maybe one in 2 or 3 parts

I'm guessing a serial is what we'd call a mini-series.
