I'm fine with the direction that it's heading in so far. I'm sure it's a slowburn like most of Joss Whedon's projects.

Some decent dialogue for start. I get that snarky cutesey-poo dialogue is kind of a staple with Joss Whedon but it was just off the fucking charts and I really could not care if any of the characters introduced died. I mean it could have been a lot worse and that it's a pilot which are never indicative of the quality of the entire season but still, I had high hopes (perhaps too high) and this episode failed to live up to them.

Great British Bake Off
Really good programme. Probably second only to Masterchef when it comes to British food shows, in my opinion. And this lovely lady doesn't do it any harm...

I also like the nod at the end of the pilot. I won't spoil it for others that haven't seen but that was pretty cool and I'm looking for other little nods to the comics popping up throughout the season. Good Grief another show that the US had to make an american version of. I saw the American Bake Off during the summer I was like the f is this show and I immediately changed the channel because Jeff Foxworthy was hosting it.

I know what you mean. Like DJ said, I'm not too worried since I thought the same thing about Dollhouse at first and then got won over. Though I have to wonder if the whole "Whedon-speak" thing is just a cliche that he feels he has to live up to at this point. How many times can the guy write the same dialogue after all?

I love it regardless, but you know that any show Whedon makes that doesn't use "Whedon-speak" on is going to be cast down into a fiery abyss by his fans. So I don't think he could stop using it even if he wanted to. Not saying he does, but I can't help wondering.

Yes it was fun. Looking forward to Whedon. We just finished a rewatch of Buffy and still working on Angel. Did you notice that the guy that played Gunn showed up in this one? I thought that was kind of cool. |

I missed that. I was too busy thinking about what a **** actor he was. I know this isn't the Sopranos, but that performance was awful.
