That was seriously my favorite plot development of the series. The rest of the show was brilliant, but there was just something so satisfyingly self indulgent about that. I don't know how believable it was, but it was still awesome.

The only character I really didn't like was Sam, my girlfriend thought he was an annoying pussy and talked **** about him the whole time we were watching haha.
Whipped.

Hey Sam was awesome, there was an overload of feels when he finally

Spoiler for Spoiler tags are very useful!:
gets to kiss and date Cindy, and then he gets sick of her and dumps her hahah"

The kid is a boss

But I think my favorite character was Bill, he had a lot of great lines and scenes. He also had some really interesting side stories.

Did you like The Wire, but secretly wished there were more episodes that just involved McNulty and Bunk working homicide cases? Well this is pretty much that, but multiplied by 4 and without the swearing and nudity (because it's on network tv). Seriously, this show has that same addictive quality that The Wire had where you say "just another episode" until you realize it's 4 in the morning. In some ways I'd say it surpasses The Wire in terms of accessibility while still keeping those subtle insights the characters deliver that made it so engaging. It's really impressive how far this show pushed the boundaries of what network TV would allow while still staying true to David Simon's Homicide: Year on the Killing Streets book which served as the inspiration for both shows. There's also some killer guest appearances by Robin Williams (around '94 when he was best known for his comedic roles) and Steve Buscemi. You'll also see some of the same actors from The Wire in this, like Clark Johnson who played Gus in season 5, playing a homicide detective.

If you watched and enjoyed The Wire then you owe it to yourself to track down its predecessor.
Started watching this. Amazing.

I watched that show here and there when it originally aired, but ever since watching The Wire last year I've been thinking I need to go back and revisit it.

I would definitely recommend it. I found seasons 1 & 2 at Barnes & Noble for $20. Other than that, there's Amazon, which seems to have pretty reasonable prices. I really wish NBC or A&E or whoever owns the rights to this show would put it up on Netflix or Hulu.

In a matter of two weeks, I have both fallen in love with Community, and been broken up by it.

I thought S04 seemed a bit "off", then I looked into why, and I think I've ruined the experience for myself in doing so.

Yup, they ruined it. You should listen to the commentaries, they are pretty awesome.

I'm more or less heartbroken, but trying to hang on to a shred of positivity for my roomie, who is just as enchanted, but doesn't handle bad news well and didn't seem to notice the change like I did.

I'm just afraid of not being able to restrain myself in the future. I don't handle it well when networks piss all over programs that were of real quality. I tend to get really bitter about it.
